I have the same tv model KDL-40W4100 and around the same age. At the moment I have 16 of
these horizontal lines
over the entire
screen and they seem to be grouped into 2 lines per row. They are also
around 4 inches and two pixel rows high. I have been looking over the
Internet
for months and found nothing to troubleshooting this issues. In the
last few weeks
more and more of these groups of lines have been showing up and now i am
up to 16 of them and it is becoming unwatchable. Any help from anyone
would be greatly appreciated. I also attached a picture to describe it better. Thanks!
Since this photo it also had 5 large semi-transparent vertical bars on the screen. Replaced the Tcon board and the above went away however the 5 bars are still there. when i unplug the LVDS cable and plug it back it it fixes itself. but when i power the tv on/off it goes back to the 5 vertical bars again. only unplugging the lvds cable and plugging it back it seems to fix it. Any ideas if the bu board is bad also? Seems like it is on all the time with the tv off since it is always hot.
