House filled with smoke and smelt like an electrical Fire. Had the fire department down. Appear my Fridge was still running however everything in the freezer was thawing and the fridge was warm. I believe it may be the compressor burnt out? I have only had this for about 6 years (rediculous)

How to dry out basement after flood on my own

Also, a wet-or-dry vacuum will help if there is still any water at all, and if you have only your house/apt. flooded, everywhere else outside is dry, some fire departments could be asked to help.
Fire departments have big, high volume fans for taking smoke out of buildings, they might help you .
God bless your efforts.

Fridge freezer exposed to fire smoke and not cooling down

Sounds like you may possibly have caused some damage when you cleaned it up - can you talk us through exactly what you did to it and how badly it needed "cleaning" - was it caked in soot etc. How hot do you think it got during the fire? if it got much above 60 celcius for any length of time what can happen is that the refrigerant gas boils enough that it will overwhelm all the seals. only real way to check is get a fridge repair guy to test it for leaks and refrigerant content, be careful not to run it too much in case this is the problem - can be fixed but running it won't do it any favours. Hope this helps, please post back with a bit more detail and hopefully we will have more of an idea what the problem could be :)

System is old need a replacement I can't seem to open, is there a battery replacement or a replacement alarm available

to open fire alarms twist the case to the left and it comes apart
consider this
if the alarm is old , it has been superseded with a better model that works on a different principle to smelling the air to detect smoke
Discuss the advantages of installing the new and different version with any fire prevention company or your local fire department
IN many instances a combination of both ensures protection of the people in the house

Woodchief stove

It could be a draft issue . In order to work properly the stove needs to be able to draw air in to replace the airgoing up the chimney along with the smoke from the fire. In old houses this was not a problem be cause they were loosely constructed and replacement air could be drawn in around windows and doors and gaps in the walls. Newer homes are a lot tighter therefore no replacement air can get in. In some cases the house is so tight that running an exhaust fan or dryer actually creates what is known as a negative pressure situation if this is the case air can be drawn backwards down the chimney and into the house bringing the smoke from the fire with it. To check for this try starting a fire with a window or door partly open. If the fire drafts correctly you may have to install a make up air for the stove. Hope this helps.

My Frigidaire Washer began pouring out smoke. Smelled like burnt rubber and the smoke from the garage filled my home. Had to call out fire department. not an electrical issue

The bearing on the main spindle probably seized and the motor continued running and burned up the belt. The belt will need to be replaced, and whatever caused the issue in the first place will need to be remedied weather it was a bearing or something else.
