SD card problems are very common - a card that has been working perfectly can suddenly start acting up, being recognized by the phone or device but not by a Windows computer (or vice versa) or fail completely.
Faults are sometimes temporary and may be fixed by removal and reinsertion of the SD card, SD or MMC adapter into the same or different card reader slot.
In my own personal experience, I've found that cleaning the contacts with an electronic cleaning agent can ofter resolve the problem(s).
I've included a link to an instructional video that may be of some assistance.

I have uploaded and downloaded pictures from my micro-SD card, both while it is in the phone, using a USB cable and setting the phone to "Menu | Settings & Tools | Tools | USB Mass Storage". Then the phone and the micro-SD card appear on my (Windows) computer as a removable drive, and I can just copy files in either direction.
I am also able to remove the micro-SD card, and plug it into an SD-card slot on my computer (with a micro-to-SD card adapter), and it mounts as a removable drive that way, too.
Note: if you have the micro-SD card in the phone, and you want the pictures you take to be stored on there so you can download them in one of the ways I've described above, then be sure to go into "Menu | Settings & Tools | 9. Memory | 1. Save Options | 1. Pictures" and set this option to "Card Memory", or else your pictures will get saved in the camera internal memory, and not on the card. This may be your problem if you are not seeing the pictures you expect on your memory card when you look for them. If you take Videos and/or Sounds, you might want to set those "Save Option" to the Card Memory, too.
You have to format your micro SD memory card with your phone first before you can download files to it. With the micro SD memory card in your phone. 1)go to menu 2) go to settings & tools 3)go to memory 4)select card memory 5)***SELECT OPTIONS*** ---this will ask you if you want to format your card select YES, if there is a phone password it would be your last 4 digits of your number.
Now eject the memory card from you phone. Now when you put the memory card to your computer you should see the sub menus...my pics..my videos...my music...my sounds. Now all you have to do is just click and drag your music and photos to these folders.
Then when you add the memory card to your phone it will see all the music, photos, etc...
