Question about Sunbeam 5891 Bread Maker

I'M TRYING TO MAKE RAISON BREAD. I PUT THE CYCLE ON SWEET. WHEN DO YOU ADD THE RAISONS? MY BREAD BOOK SAID WHEN THE SWEET SIGNAL BEEPS. IS THERE A SWEET SIGNAL ON THIS BREAD MAKER?

Hi, I looked at the manual for your machine and it does not have the "beep" alert for adding fruit and nuts etc.
One of the recipes from your manual just says to add them in the beginning. Given that fact go ahead and add them be fore your last long knead.

Next time just add them with everything else. I was kind of surprised to see you don't have the beep alert for add-ins but per your manual YOU DON'T!..sorry...

Is there anything I can do?

I don't know about your specific model, but in most bread makers there is a removable paddle that goes in the bottom of the bread pan after you put that in the machine. The paddle usually has a flattened side on the hole which slides on to the post sticking up from the bottom of the machine. If you look at the post straight down from above it should be D shaped. The usual procedure is to put the pan in the machine, install the paddle, and then add your ingredients. Assuming you are doing this and it is still not working, trying running it through a mix only cycle (like for pizza dough) with the machine empty to see if the paddle is engaging and spinning properly. If it is not, contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Forget the white bread recipe in the Cuisinart book. There is an error in it. Is that the one you were trying to bake?

I need a basic bread recipe . i dont have powdered milk

Only use powedered milk if you are using the delay on the timer.

You can use and liquid to make great bread.

Basic 2 pound sweet bread:

1 cup liquid (milk, almond milk, fruit juice, etc)
mix 1.5 teaspoons of salt with liquid and add to bottom of machine
Add 2 tablespoons of sweetner (honey, sugar, etc)
Add 2 tablespoons of fat (oil, butter etc)
Add spices to your liking (about 1.5 teaspoons or more) (cinn, nutmeg, cloves etc)
Add 3 cups of flour (white or wheat)
Make an indent for the rapis rise yeast in the flour
Add 1.5 teaspoon of yeast
Don't let the salt of the liquid touch the yeast
You can 3/4 cups of fruit when the add fruit alert beeps

This basic recipie works for savory bread too.
I do a sundried tomato bread using this basic plan but lots more herbs, freh garlic, chicken broth.

The additional ingrediets beeper is not beeping. My machine is relatively new.

If you have your manual there is another way to handle the add-in beep. Find the page that shows the lengths of each program. The programs that have the add-in beep usually show the time that it occurs. So if you watch your timer you'll know when its close.
Sometimes I just set the timer on my oven because it is much louder than the bread machine alert and it doesn't stop until I turn it off, unlike the bread machine which shuts off after a few beeps.
Just synchronize your oven timer with the timer on the bread machine.
Example:
with my machine my manual says that when the timer says 2:35 the beep will sound with the sweet bread program for a 1.5 lb. loaf light crust. I just take the subtract that from the time of the total program and set my oven timer for that time. When I hear the oven timer go I add my fruits, nuts, etc.

Could be old flour or old yeast, not enough fluid. And the temperature of your kitchen.
Usually half a cup of raisins and usually there is a beep when to add, but can be added the second knead cycle. depends on the recipes. Also, I find that if you roll the raisins in a dusting of flour it helps them distribute through the loaf better.

The Regal Kitchen Pro instructions are as follows:
Basic, add at 40 minutes past start time.
Rapid, 25 minutes
French 75 minutes
Whole Wheat 50 minutes
Sweet and Quick Bread show just a dash - on the chart.

Bread Pan won't release...

I was given an old chefmate thats not even made anymore and loved it. I was confined to only making a basic white bread from it though being I had no manuel and couldnt find one on line to use the other settings.

As I said, the chefmate was old and finally gave up the ghost.

I shoped here on amazon com as I always do to look for a new breadmachine, and also see the reviews of other amazon com users to help. I had it narrowed down to 3 differant machines. THen I found this machine. Breadman TR8752

I bought it directly from amazon which got to me in a lightening speed of 2 days. Perfectly boxed and protected.

This thing is a beauty. I put it through the one time recommended rapid cycle empty to burn off all manufacturing oils and couldnt wait.

When that was done I made the first loaf which was a basic white loaf to start with, from the recipe book included.

All I can say is WOW. This bread came out so soft and fluffy. Tasted so good. The digital controls make it easy to read and see exactly what cycle your bread is going through.

Very easy to clean after your done I should add. The window at the top really helps so you can see it knead or bake.

As I said, I am new to breadmachines so I am only judging from my old chefmate, which was nice, dont get me wrong, but the kneading cycle in this Breadman was absolutly incredible. I kneads the dough extremely thoroughly. Mixing everything perfectly.

I have just gone shopping and picked up ingrediants as so I can now go down the list making each recipe in this book. Tonight will have Italian herb.

I can't wait to give the jam's doughs and pasta settings a try, which there are recipes for these too in the booklet. I also can't wait to try out the timer. Put in my ingrediants the night before and have set to be finished by the time I wake up. It looks extremely easy to set. And the book walks you through everything so easily.

I find the machine is nice and quiet, and actually very sturdy when in kneading and mixing mode. Also I would like to note, although it is in a beautiful stainless body, it dosn't get hot at all. It is very well insulated.But inside does so you definatly want oven mits when taking out a new loaf. This just shows me that is was very well designed and put together. Alot of thought was definatly put into this by the company.
