Need confirmation that the AC adaptor for Duralast jump start model BP-DLG is a 12volt 450ma. Is this correct or do I need something else?

Hello, After charging my Peak 300 Jump Starter it whistle's (loudly) after I unplug it and it just keeps whistling... Can you tell me what the matter? email:

Refer to the instructions that came with charger. If you threw them away you have a problem You can go on line and download instructions.
Low Charge Alert (LCA)
On the front of the unit there is a Low Charge Alert port. There is a red plug in this port. With the plug
removed, when the battery level drops to LO, an alarm will sound to remind the user to recharge the
Jump-Starter.
The alarm can be turned off one of three ways:

Placing the pin back into the Low Charge Alert port

Recharging the battery immediately to bring it to the capacity of 10% or more

Pressing the battery indicator display button. If the alarm is turned off by pressing the battery
display button, the alarm will sound automatically again in approximately 1 hour.
The alarm will only be turned off permanently if the battery is in a fully charged state, or the pin is
inserted in the Low Charge Alert port. There is a storage port on the back of the Jump-Starter for the
LCA plug. When the plug is removed from the LCA port, it should be installed in the storage port on the
back of the Jump-Starter.
Charging Jump-Starter Battery
All rechargeable batteries gradually discharge when left idle, and you need to recharge them
periodically to maintain maximum battery capacity. The AC charger plug within the Jump-Starter is
designed to charge using a 110/120-volt outlet.

Fully charge unit to the recommended maximum and initial charge time of 24 hours. Thereafter, an
AC typical charge time is 8 to 12 hours.

Recharge the unit fully after each use. This will prolong the life of the battery because frequent
discharges between recharges will reduce battery life.

Make sure all functions of the Jump-Starter are turned off during recharging

Are lithium Ion jump starters any different from normal jump starters?

Since you are looking for new charger for you husband, I would advice to buy these lithium chargers only as they are far more compact than traditional ones and are safer to use.Lithium jump starters are new and different battery chargers from tranditional ones. They were introduced in 2013. Amongst the recommeded ones, I would advice you to buy PowerGo or DB power jump starter as these are the most powerful and affordable ones. My Duralast Gold Jump Starter does not take a charge when I plug it in to the wall socket. While the charger is connected to it, it will show the green light. But when I remove the charger, after...

There is a battery inside which may need to be replaced. To check, run the compressor (it runs off
the battery) - if the compressor dies quickly, then the battery has failed to charge and would
need to be replaced. You may want to check your Warranty Management software (or
shoebox) to see if your Starter/Air Compressor is still under warranty - if so, replace it.
Duralast products are carried exclusively by AutoZone, Inc.
The Duralast web site: www.duralastparts.com is useless - it only shows automotive parts,
and I cannot find the product at www.autozone.com, so it seems that AutoZone fails to support this
product with replacement batteries or other replacement parts (or even an online Users manual).

My Duralast Gold Jump Starter Model BP-DLG will not take a charge. When it is plugged into the charger it shows fully charged; when I unplug it it goes dead, will not start and the red light shows. I have used it about 4 times in less than two years.

I have a car jump starter unit that was left and went dead flat. Now it will not take a charge pluging in the charger?

Unfortunately, a Jump Starting Unit which no longer takes a charge usually means the internal batteries had gone bad. On some charging units, the replacement batteries are available through the manufacturer, but more times than not, it's less expensive to replace the Jump Starting Unit.
