It could be. Try intervideo.com. Thats a good DVD program. If you have an ATI video card in your computer, you might have a DVD for their player as well. Either way both programs will provide you with a DVD decoder for playback as well.
If you didn't finalize the DVD after you recorded it, that error can happen as well. It can by fixed by reinserting it back into the DVD Camcorder and finalizing it.
What format is the file in?
If you try it as a windows media file, it could be emailed that way.
The other thing you can do is create a You Tube account, download it that way and have the people you wanted to send it to see it by an e-mail invite. Videos on You Tube have to be broken up into 10 minute lengths.
If you have Windows Movie Maker in your computer, you can edit the video and add a music track and save it as a windows media file.
It might be a different format that Movie Maker doesn't recognize. Intervideo has a movie maker program that can recognize different video formats. They have a trial package available.

Okay, thank you for the advice. i went out before you replied and bought more cds. i got the new cd onto my computer. Woohoo! but i now have a new problem. lol, the file is too large to send. Any idea how i can send it? it's less than a minute too!
