Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+ Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 05, 2010

Overhead Garage door lights will not go out like they are suppose to. I thought maybe the timer was not functioning. This is a Sears LiftMaster model 139.53515SR. I would appreciate any advice how to fix this.

Do the lights just stay on or do they not stay on long enough. You may have a bad relay.

Overhead light stays on all the time on craftsman garage door opener

Hello. If the light stays on all the time check these:
A. The light time delay on the opener will keep the light on for approximately 4-1/2 minutes after the system has be activated, then will turn the light off automatically.

B. If the opener has a worklight switch (which is supplied only with a four-function wall console), slide the switch to "OFF" position.

C. If the opener has a pedestrian switch (which is supplied only with a four-function wall console), the light will stay on for 4-1/2 minutes after the pedestrian door has been opened.

Craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener with one green and one yellow

It sounds like a logic board problem to me. I would remove the board and look for bad connections especially around that small transformer.

Courtesy light not going off

This is usually caused by electrical storms. Electrical surges seem to get to the small relays that control the light and fry them.

Lights on overhead unit on garage door opener will not go off

This is not too uncommon. What tripped the breaker in your house also got to one of the relays on the logic board of your opener. The only cure I know of is a new logic board.

Garage door does not function makes couple of buzzing sounds only

Remove the cover and check out the drive gear. It is white nylon and is probably stripped.

My garage door opener does not work may have beem electrical storm. unit has power model 248739

I have Sears Craftsman model 139.58778 and the remote is suddenly not working for no apparent reason. The transmitter in the garage works fine but the portable unit for the car does not. The red light goes on and the toggle switches are correctly set and match the overhead unit setting. Any ideas what is wrong? I purchased a new remote and it did not work either after being correctly set, Thank you!

Have a sears garage door opener. Thought the buld was burned out and replaced it. Now light will not turn off.

Check the sensors on either side of the door.

Also, see if there is a timer setting and if it's at max!
