No need for one - this unit is very easy to use: make sure no floppy is in the unit and plug it in any USB slot on a pc; a icon saying that new hardware has been detected will appear in the bottom right side , next to the clock; when all the messages coming from there have stopped (less than 30 seconds) it means that the unit is installed and ready to be used; to use it put a floppy in it and to access it just open My Computer and the floppy will be there, like it was in the old days.

My korg o1wfd needs a new floopy drive, but I don't know which one

This I am afraid is going to be a real problem. The original 01WFD's were shipped with the single density (720Kb) floppy drives, not the easier to find 1.44Mb ones. You could try contacting Korg.

From experience I can tell you that while many of the drives have similar interfaces, the music companies often had drives that required special strapping in regards to the drive select. There are not many of the single density ones around anymore... you might find one in a computer recycler's archives.

Trying to use the common double density 1.44Mb disks in the Korg is NOT going to work either, and if you have tried this, that MAY be why you are having problems, and new floppy drive isn't going to fix the problem... The "artifacts" left by 1,44 formatting remain between the tracks when put into the Korg.

To get around this, you can try TAPING over the extra hole that 1.44 disks have AND most importantly magnetically DEGAUSS the disk and then reformat using the drive in the Korg.

I recently had my windowsxp, up dated. my computer is an emachine my external floppy drive is know not recognized by computer now i have tried finding a driver but i am having no luck. I think my driver is...

Try connecting the external device to another computer, to see if can be detected on that computer. If not, then the device itself has a problem.

Otherwise, try connecting your device to a different USB port on your computer.

Also, try some other USB device (camera, memory-stick) in each of your computer's USB ports, to confirm that the USB ports themselves are working.

Cannot use the floppy disk of my CVP 65 as it appears the memory is full. It plays new discs, but won't record.

This sounds like it MIGHT be a floppy drive problem rather than a full memory... REMEMBER to ONLY try recording a file no bigger than what the floppy will hold which is 720Kb.

NOTE: The disks used in this are not the COMMON 3.5 inch floppies, but the older 2DD 720K floppies. They have only one hole on corners where the new 1.44 Mb ones have two holes.

To USE the 1.44 Mb flopies do this: Use an opaque tape to cover the hole that does NOT have the write protect slider. THEN most omportantly DEGAUSS the disk with a degausser. THEN Reformat the disk in the CVP 65.

The pre-formatted 1.44 disk when formated at the 720Kb used by the CVP 65 will have ARTIFACTS between tracks since the higher density also have half the track spacing and the formatting doesn't always clean enough width leaving artifacts between the tracks when formatted as 720Kb These ARTIFACTS can cause trouble.

The 720Kb disks are ESSENTIALLY unavailable anymore.

Nexxtech External Floppy Driver Problem

Normally windows will install any driver for a usb floppy drive automatically. If it needs one. I'm surprised that it hasn't just worked by plugging it in as there cheap floppy drives over purchased have all just worked without the need to install drivers on win xp and higher. Remember you won't see the drive appear under my computer until it has a disc inserted in it though.
