How to re-use my Canon Waste Toner Container for my Canon ImageRunner C5030 copier? Hello. My copier is telling me to replace my waste toner container (Canon part #'s: FM3-5945-010 or FM3-5945-000), but this seems like such a waste. Can i just dump out the toner from the container and properly dispose of the toner, then re-use the container? Or is there a chip or sensor in the waste toner container that will prevent me from re-using it? If Canon did include a sensor in the container to prevent people from re-using it, can you please tell me how to defeat the sensor? Thank you in advance for your assistance. -Scott

There is a clear plastic piece mounted on the waste toner container. The printer sends a light through this clear plastic to detect whether the container is full. You will need to ensure you are able to see through the clear plastic to reuse the waste toner container.

Download the manual and follow the instructions in section 8. Menu to clear the waste toner counter is Service Mode>COPIER>COUNTER>DRBL-1 .

To start Service mode:

Startup [SERVICE MODE] (After pressing [USER MODE] button of MEAP device, press [2]
button and [8] button at the same time on control panel. Then, by pressing [USER MODE]
button again, [SERVICE MODE] screen is displayed).

To see position of waste ink bottle, check section 2-72 in manual.

Manual is over 1000 pages, you will need to download it.
