By pressing ctrl f11 after when the dell logo comes on, it will do a process to return your computer to its factory settings and will delete all the data in your computer. It will be back to the state when you first bought your computer. Just wait a little longer for the process to finish. If after an hour it does not do anything then the process has a problem. You will have to do a clean install. And to do this you need your Operating System install cd.

the white dash is a command cue and it is waiting for you to enter a command for the laptop to proceed
when you switch the laptop on , hold down the delete key until the bios screen appears
go to boot tab and check where the boot priority is
it should be first priority , hard drive
if not make it the first priority save yes and esc.and shut down , then reboot

That cursor indicated that the BIOS can't find an Windows installed on the hdd. Since even the recovery partition appears to be inaccessible the only thing left is to reinstall it using the recovery cd that should have come with it when you bought it If you don't have it you can order it from Dell.

try to start window in safe mode right after you start push the f 8 key then select safe mode option there you may do a system restore if your running xp edition Good luck James

Possible that the software of the phone is corrupt or a possible hardware is defective.
You can remove the battery and memory card, have the card scanned for virus. replace battery after 15 minutes so that the phone is reset.
if the phone wont boot back the services of the Nokia support must be sought for reinstalling the software.

The small hole is most likely a built in microphone. Web cams are usually at the top of the screen.

After the logo flashes, press F8, repeatedly, until a white-over-black "boot menu" is displayed. Choose "Safe Mode", to see if this "minimal" version of Windows will startup successfully.
