Batteries do not provide a linear output during usage, but having it die out within a mile or so tells me that one of the battery cells is becoming weaker than the rest. If you're a handyman, you can save yourself a ton of money by replacing only the batteries (try interstate batteries) instead of going to the scooter store and purchasing the batteries and case.

How old are you batteries? Is there any noise or vibration when you operate the scooter? has it been sitting unused for a while? I have a feeling the batteries may be damaged and not taking a full charge, but I need more info- thanks!
