SOURCE: Sata hard disk drive on asus p4v8x-x motherboard

Okay. If your board has SATA connection slots it most definitely is SATA compatible. Check on your motherboard how many SATA slots you have, make sure that your HDD is connected to on the Mboard with any other drive in a numerical order (on the Mboard right next to the SATA slot it should read SATA 1 or SATA 2 ........). If that does not work plug is you HDD drive loosely so that when you switch on your computer you can listen to the HDD. should it emit a humming sound, meaning its powering up the problem could lie with your SATA slot or SATA Data Cable, try a different DATA cable if this does not work try blowing air into the SATA slot on the Mboard, If no luck then maybe the slot is burnt out or malfuntioning. Should you not hear a humming sound coming from your HDD then its either faulty or the there is no power going to it. try to alternate between the cable of your power supply. Try these and Please let me know how you go.

SOURCE: Asus M2N motherboard ATA problem

Hi, Go into the POST and set it back to the default setting. Reboot and see if the cd/dvd rom drive. If it still does not recognize the drive, then try using a different IDE cable. Question, did the MB work fine and all of a sudden it does not regonize the drive? By the way, I have the same MB. So far I have not encounter any problems with it. Thanks, Mike

I lost my mother board driver what will ido now

Hi Naresh,

Please remember to backup your drivers from the original driver CD onto your hard disk/Cd/Pen Drive , or specially a separate partition on your hard disk so that you can install them later, in case of any crash.

For now you can download the drivers from this link :- http://bit.ly/mUHx0w

Hope this helps.

I recently bought a used Asus a7n8x mobo so I can rebuild my dead XP Pro 462 A Socket system. I am upgrading the mobo to the "Delux = A7V8X-E" board and replacing my 2400 AthlonXP CPU with a used 3200...

Excellent motherboard. I've owned two of them, best socket A motherboard ever. Nvidia nforce chipset, soundstorm audio. You can definitely burn the drivers to a disk or pen drive for installation after you've reinstalled windows. Windows xp may even have drivers that will work for the network card. So you may just be able to go to asus's website with that system and install directly to the system. You will know if the network card is working when xp asks to activate, try to activate and it will tell you if you have a network connection or not. I would burn all the drivers and software to a disk though just in case. Downloading the drivers and saving them on a CD is easy. Just download and save the drivers/software to your "my documents folder" when downloading from asus. Then open my computer double click on the cdrw drive or dvdrw drive whichever one you have and drag the files from your documents to the cdrw//dvdrw window. Once you've done this you will see at the top of the window "files ready to be written to cd". At the top in the left column in window you will see "write files to cd". Insert a blank cd-r or cd-rw and click write files to cd. That's it once its finished you can use the cd to install the software. If you have any trouble or questions reply to this and I will be glad to help you. I miss my A7N8X-E I sold mine to my friend 5 years ago and its still running strong and I used it for 2 years before him.

Hi, cannot find the right set of drivers for the mobo A7N8X Deluxe. It does not recognise my SATA drive, even I've installed corresponding drivers After pressing the F6 key and installing the SCSI Drivers...

Connect your SATA on the first SATA slot to make it as the Master. Or maybe the BIOS settings is set only to recognize IDE device. If this is the case, try going to BIOS settings then Peripheral Devices, look for the menu Hard Drive and replace the IDE into SATA.

Need diagram of how to hook up my western digitial sata harddrive to mother board a asus a7n8x-e deluxe

this motherboard does not support your new Hard Drive. SATA is a connection type required for your hard drive. Your motherboard supports IDE connector. You probably can get a pci card that allows you to attach the hard drive.

A7N8X-E Deluxe Nforce2 will not POST

I had the same issue a while back. You need to reinstall windows on the new PC. Your motherboard is expecting to see a certain hard drive that has the windows boot sector on it. If it doesn't see that exact hard drive the computer will never boot... so quick fix, just reinstall windows and everything should work fine.

ASUS A7N8X-X RESET SWITCH

Hi roatan. That helps. So as I mentioned in your other post. Hook up the Maxtor. Since it's a single drive in a newer case the hard drive should not have a jumper on it. Before the system asked for a boot disk. The reason you got that message is because either the boot.ini is corrupted or Windows XP start-up files are corrupted. (A virus/worm could also messed up things).
If you can not get your drive into another PC to back up your data to either a CD/DVD drive than you have no choice but to re-install windows.
Re-installing windows will over write the old windows & replace other folders. Some personal data will be erased. If this is what you want than continue! If you want to save all personal data than you will need to buy another drive. Install the new drive & setup windows complete. When your all done. connect the Maxtor drive. Check the white sticker in the Maxtor drive & change the jumper so the Maxtor is set to a slave drive.
Now you can copy all your personal data to your new drive.
Thats it. Continue to use the Maxtor drive a back up.
Once done copying your data to the new primary drive you can use windows to format the Maxtor & continue using it as a back-up drive.
Here is a very good drive for the money & it comes with a five year warranty.
