Where is the Convergence IC on my Mitsubishi VS-60601 1997 Serial #104094. You told me what the problem was with my TV and showed me what a Convergence IC looks like, but now that the projector TV is open, nothing likes like the picture you sent me. Where is it located? The only thing I got for the $5 i gave fixya is what my problem is and what the part looks like. Need to know where it is in the circuitry.

I have not repaired this particular model. If this TV is a projection set,you have one of two possible problems. First....You may have convergence IC that has lost a ground contact to the signal board. We are discussing the board that has all your RCA connections and RF connectors. You may have to replace, possibly a STK-XXX series convergence IC. One or two capacitors near this IC, usually a bad cap will end the life of an IC and resistors. And replace a couple of resistors, these are standing tall next to the convergence IC. The next problem could be on the power supply. The power supply will almost always have the flyback transformer on it. If you can locate the vertical IC..This IC may need resoldering. You will see rings around the pins of the vertical IC. Replace the three or four capacitors next to the IC. A bad capacitor will overheat an IC and cause solder grounds to separate. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

That's a convergence circuit failure. You may have to have the convergence output IC(s) replaced. Sometimes, if you catch it early and its still intermittently doing this, you may get lucky and only have to re-solder the pin connections under the convergence IC(s). If you're not up to doing this yourself, contact a Mitsubishi authorized service center. If the IC(s) need replacing, expect to pay $400-$500 to resolve this issue.

The correct part# for the two convergence ic's is = STK392-570. The repair is close to $400

Most likely the convergence output IC has shorted out and has overloaded the convergence power supply, which has stopped working. The computer senses that the convergence power supply is not running and shuts the set down. The convergence IC should be replaced, the power supply restored and the convergence circuits realigned by someone experienced in Mitsubishi projection sets. When I do a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, but shops in your area will vary so ask around.
