I have an LG RH7500 DVD Recorder. It says 'Please Wait' constantly and it doesn't do anything else.

I have a RH1858 DVD Recorder (same as the RH1777) that also started giving this same message "PLEASE WAIT" - now I'm fortunate that I work with a lot of electronic boards and have found in the past that a lot of Laptops fail for no reason at all...................

The ONLY reason I could assume that the DVD unit has failed (LG says the Mainboard's bust and needs replacement) is heat

Somehow lack of airflow or cooling could affect the SMC (Surface Mounted Components) and the solder joints can become brittle, which then causes de-lamination...... hence the problem.

Stripped the machine open and started pressing on various IC's on the controller board (right side of the machine where the HDD and DVD connects to) - each one on it's own while applying power to the unit............ after about 10min's I hit the right component and the machine initialised. Pressure on the components and PCB allowed the unit to work 100% - release the pressure and voila the unit stops working!

Stripped the board out and used a "heat-blower" used for SMC's... and basically re-flowed all the components and solder connections on the PCB.

Re-installed the board and machine now works 100%!

All you need is to get someone that has a bit of experience and knows how to re-flow the board with heated air - DO NOT USE a normal soldering iron...!

Hope this info helped!

Attempted to burn a DVD

The lens for reader is a common issue and causes those errors. Get inside the box, take off the two screws on the DVD drive cover and (delicately) remove dust from the lens and surroundings. You should use delicate brushes and air blast, but I got some soft tissue and gently wiped.

I hope this helps

My LG DVD RECORDER, MODEL RH7500 won't play DVDs.

Check the model specifications for your device. Some players will only accept DVD-R and not DVD+R or not DVD+RW discs. I know it all seems the same, and it's very frustrating, but many companies restrict the type of discs they will allow. My player does +R but not -R. It should still be able to read DVD discs that you made yourself, but they will be of a different type.

Lg dvd recorder

No, this is a fault with the unit, 99% of the time caused by the power supply, but I've seen it be caused by the MPEG pcb

I have a hdd/dvd recorder model rh7880/rh7500 set timer recording to record onto dvd, machine switched itself on as normal but did not start to record and froze up.cannot get anything to respond either...

Recorder wasn't under warranty, so opened the unit up removed the dvd - rw disc ,which was corrupted as it turns out, put the machine back together switched it on and it worked perfectly.I have since tested it by recording both on to dvd,hdd and used the dubbing format and have had no problems. In the future I would recommend bying only top quality discs as it seems a dodgy one was responsible.
