I've been having this issue for the past few days. I've tried contacting HP through email (not willing to pay the $45 to talk to them over the phone) and I've tried all of their solutions.
I've unplugged, uninstalled, and reinstalled the printer.
I've tried stopping & restarting the printer spooler
But to no avail.
This is the issue.......
At first I was getting the message that the printer spooler was unable to connect to my printer. But now that i've uninstalled & reinstalled the software i'm not getting the error messgae anymore.....I'm not getting ANY ERROR message in fact.
But, whenever we try to print something the printer will seem to ATTEMPT to print the page but the page will either be blank or have a very small piece of what was to be printed (like 1/6th of the page....if that).....and then it freezes...with the "Printing Document" on the printers display and the display lights NOT LITE.
I have to turn the printer off then back on to get back to the "ready" state....if I don't the printer will stay in this FROZEN mode.
Also....the printer does it's "calibrating" on its own every day...sometimes more than once....and EVERYTIME it does that it freezes there as well. It will begin the calibrating process...but then it freezes. Again I would have to turn the printer off the back on to get back to the "ready" state.
I have not been able to print ANYTHING for the last 4 days!!! I kinda need this for our office.
WE DO have this printer hooked up and networked through TWO different computers in the same office. We never had issues before.....what could be causing this?
Is it AT ALL possible to have anything to do with our IPN addy.....I'm also having issues with our VPN connection on my computer only though. The other user in my office on our other computer is NOT HAVING this issues with his VPN, but he IS HAVING issues with the printer. I'm continually disconnected from our VPN stating something that the routing table cannot be altered after the connection has been established. I'm STILL working on that issue as well with NO LUCK!! Not sure if it was related or not.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I DON'T THINK ITS THE PRINTER. THIS IS A SOFTWARE OR NETWORK ISSUE.
1 IT SOUNDS LIKE CORRUPTED FILES BEING SENT TO PRINTER, OFTEN PDFS. CLEARED ALL PRINT JOBS? ALSO AS400 PRINT QUEUE?
2 ALSO SOUNDS LIKE A VIRUS POSSIBLY "Adot.BAT". go online to housecall.com and do online virus scan.
3 OR, SOME OTHER CHANGE OR NEW DEVICE ON THE NETWORK MIGHT BE INTERFERING.
FIRST, TRY ISOLATING THE PRINTER FROM YOUR NETWORK. UNPLUG THE PRINTER FROM ALL DATA INPUTS AND RESTORE DEFAULTS. (LEFT OR RIGHT BUTTON TO SERVICE MENU, PUSH CHECK BUTTON, LEFT OR RIGHT TO RESTORE DEFAULTS, PUSH CHECK BUTTON).
IT SHOULD RESTART, THEN CALIBRATE. NEXT PRINT A CONFIGURATION PAGE FROM ITS MENUS, IF NOT TWO PAGES NET CARD IS DEAD.
IF OK SO FAR, TRY CONNECTING IT JUST TO A LAPTOP. USB ONLY THIS WAY, OR USE A NETWORK HUB, SEPARATE FROM YOUR NETWORK. INSTALL ANY OLD LASERJET DRIVER OR PRINTER ON THE LAPTOP JUST TO TEST IT.
IF ALL THIS WORKS, THE PRINTER IS FINE. BEFORE RECONNECTING THE PRINTER TO YOUR OFFICE COMPUTERS, FIX YOUR NETWORK & INTERNET OR VPN PROBLEMS.
THEN, DELETE ALL HP LASERJET PRINTERS & UNINSTALL ALL HP DRIVERS ON ALL NETWORKED COMPUTERS AND SERVER. (EXCEPT ZIPPED DOWNLOADED DRIVERS). START NEW HP PRINTER INSTALLATION COMPLETELY FROM ZERO. REINSTALL ONLY THE DRIVER YOU NEED. PCL5 IS RECOMMENDED.
