Here is how mine works at least.Yours should be somewhat similar. At the bottom is how you set up date/time.
Turn on the camera.Push the MENU button.Push up on the directional pad until the options of PHOTO and SETUP are available.Push directional down once if they are already available(mine is).You should see under the options on the first screen(number 2 list on left side).Push right.Push down until you are on the date stamp option.Push right again and it should open the the options available.Scroll down and select what you want and press the FUNC OK button in the middle of the directional pad to accept.Push the MENU button to exit.

Move highlighted option at top to SETUP by using the directional pad.Push down to the correct option screen(mine is number 1) where it says SET DATE or something similar.Push right to make the SET DATE highlighted.Push right again to set the date/time.When correct info is there, press FUNC OK,or whatever yours says in the middle of the directional pad to accept it.
You may want to print this for future reference.I do not use mine so I am not sure if it keeps it updated with the batteries removed, most likely does not.You also may want to try a few for practice and examining.I had a camera once with this feature built in and I was disappointed with how much the DATE stamp interfered and/or took away from the picture's appearance.Good, luck Greg

You haven't said what make/model your camera is, so it is hard to advise.

Without knowing the camera, I am guessing that you may be in the wrong mode when trying to change this setting. You won't be able to change it while reviewing pictures already taken. You can only change it for pictures to be taken subsequently. Once pictures are taken, you won't be able to add the date stamp, nor remove it if it has been stamped.

It may be that it won't allow you to set this if you haven't already set the date and time in your camera. I can't see why this setting would be shown at all if it was not possible to turn it on (i.e. if your camera did not have this feature).

How do I get the date stamp to show up on the picture DMC Lz2 ? I've already set the clock in the settings menu. But the date and time stamp doesn't show up on the photo taken.

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I have a cannon Ixus 75 digital camera, which I have had for several years, and cannot get the date to print on the photo's. I have set the date and time as instructed in the namual, but when I go to...

The date stamp will only work when the camera's resolution is set to postcard mode. Press Func/set, scroll down to the bottom, then across to the icon with the clock and mountain. It will say "postcard". Press Func/set again. Then press Menu, scroll down to "Date stamp" and across to select date or date and time, then press menu again.

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX520 and the date stamp wont appear on printed photos. The date shows when I take the photo, how do I get the datestamp to show up afterwards

Normally in the menu settings the options are entered so as to stamp the date in. So open menu settings and check on clock and date settings. check for links to date stamping in the menu and activate.

Show/print date stamp on my photos

In order to imprint the date stamp on photos, the photo size (L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard) must be set to Postcard, and in the recording menu the "Date Stamp" option must be set to Date or Date & Time.

Canon SD 1000 time and date stamp on downloaded photo

Set the resolution to PostageCard (1600x1200).
Many of these cameras have only ONE RESOLUTION setting which allows you to have a date/ date and time stamp on the file, which will print on the viewed or printed photo.

How to do it:
Turn the camera on M mode.
Use the func. set.
go down the menu to the resolution settings. (on the bottom of menu).
Pick only the postagecard (1600x1200) setting.

I also was like you, and had an awful time with a camera I was fixing. I then looked it up on the Net and found an online user manual for the Canon SD 500, which should be basically the same.
