Ok...if you have it installled in your computer you have several options.
1 Restart the pc
2. Take it out and reinstall it
3. Sysytem restore
4. Restart the printer.
5 look on bottom right hand corner of you moniyor and see if you have pending prints. Cancel all.

Altho the manual does not mention cd/dvd printing AT ALL.
The online manual that loads with the cd's is very informative.

I had the same problem with one of these units. I had another one that worked great so I knew it should work. I called Canon and after some questions about the problem they sent me a replacement unit which works fine.

Possible causes: Empty cartridges or new cartridges with cover strip still on the contacts, plugged printhead, wipe with warm water on paper towel to see if all colors are there, also physicallyclean the black cartridge. Try to print. If not working, use the printhead clean and or prime in the printer's maintenance tab.
