Hi Experts,
Unfortunately I tripped over the cables connecting the portable hard drive to the laptop whilst it was plugged in and actively being used. The cables came out of the back of the hard drive as well, both connection and power cable. We immediately plugged the cable back in (not sure if that was the right thing to do?). The portable hard drive then started making a beeping noise on an intermittent basis and was not connecting or recognising a connection to the laptop.
I turned everything off, disconnected all wires and then tried re-starting everything. Still nothing. I have been away for the last 1.5 weeks but I have just tried this process again to see if there is any change. The portable hard drive is no longer making a beeping sound and is still not connecting. Starting to get rather worried.
PLEASE help as all my/girlfriends pictures from travelling etc are on there!
Rgds

I had my One touch 4 Hard drive standing vertically and a friend accidentally brushed past it whilst it was powered on so it dropped to a horizontal position. When i put it back on it wasn't recognized by the computer and kept on making a beep sound every 5 seconds intervals. Also the Disk doesn't seem to be spinning.
A friend who is specialized in this area suggests that the head seems stuck and needs to be released but that would involve opening up the Hard Drive in a clean and dustless environment. He advices that it be opened in an enclosed space whilst using protective gloves making sure not to touch/scratch the reflective disc inside.
My Maxtor 750 is doing the exact same thing an dI can't get tech support from Seagate.
My FreeAgent external hard drive fell off of the desk and no longer works. It does make a beeping sound, but there does not seem to be any way to get inside to see if the dirve is damaged. I am a professional wedding photographer and I had several weddings saved on this drive.
