It should connect with an Ethernet cable. Looks like a phone cable but is twice as wide with 8 pins instead of 4. Plug one end into the modem's Ethernet output port and plug the other end into the router's single WAN/Internet input port.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router. open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP. Click Here for step by step by instructions
My Nokia 7210 Supernova handset can not access internet, though it is working on P.C. as a modem. When I try to open webpage in mobile, it reflects a message "Subscribe packet data first" and "Link not available". Sometimes it says "Connection not available". Tough all settings are installed properly. My service provider is BSNL, UP East Circle (Faizabad district). Please suggest me the solution for this problem so that I can access net from mobile too. -RP Shukla Faizabad
Most DSL providers use PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) to establish Internet connections for end-users. To set up a Linksys router, you need to enable PPPoE on the router’s web-based setup page. To setup a Linksys router with a DSL connection you need to perform four steps:
Verifying Internet Connection
Connecting the Devices Together
Checking the LEDs
Setting-up a DSL ISP on a Linksys Router
Verifying Internet Connection Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider.
I went to the Hughes web site to check out the modem. They say it is also a router. I think you will have to disable the router abilities of your WNDR 3300 Net Gear Router.
Get into the Netgear setup by loging on to it.In its WAN setup select Static IP Address and set the Static IP Address to the same as the hughes modem, except for the last number which should be about 50 greater. IE: Hughes 192.168.12.1 and Netgear 192.168.12.55.
In the DHCP setup, disable the DHCP Server
In the Wireless setup, Give your network a name is SSID. You should also set up security to keep others off you internet connection with a WEP key.
Hi.. the connectivity of ur net to ur system purely depends upon ur modem only.. There is no problem in ur system. its a network problem in ur area. no need to worry for this problem. make a complaint where u purchased the modem and they will try to rectify it..
u ned to make sure router has been properly configured.u may give a try by logging into the router webinterface using 192.168.1.1/routerlogin.com
once u have opnd the router page clik on "basic settings-no and apply the settings",then clik on "router status" and check for ip address internet port(should not be o.o.o.o),if it has some numbers(perfect),then clik on "wireless settings" under "setup" and do all the wireless settings as per requirements
-- who is your internet service provider -- what is the operating system of your computer? -- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router
you may try this and see if this help solve your problem
Step 1: Shutdown the computer. Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable. Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds. Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable. Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable. Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.
