Maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards.

I hope you understand that formatting the memory card completely erases it so you won't "see all my pictures again".

Says to reset switch on memory card kodak easy share dx4530.how?

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I just inserted a 8 MB card in and the camera says "Memory card needs formatting" I click continue, then it says "Formatting will delete everything on the memory card", no problem, it's a new card so I...

8MB or 8GB? If it's actually an 8MB card, you'll be able to put maybe two or three pictures on it, so I'll assume it's an 8GB card.

The DX4530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are electronic difference that prevent them from working there. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

My Kodak DX 4530 says my 4GB SDHC Card needs to be formatted but it won't do it

The DX4530 works with MMC and SD cards. While your SDHC card fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use MMC or SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

If your using more than 2GB of SD card or if yous using the SDHC card it will not format the Memory card.

Try to used the recommended Memory card 2GB or 1GB SD card It will reformat your card. Too Much or too High SD card is not compatible on DX camera series

My kodak dx4530 has a new 32 gb sd card that needs formating. the camara won't do it. Is it to large for the camara?

I don't remember about the DX4530 but the older Kodak SD cameras were designed before the enhanced capacity SD cards were invented.   They don't know how to deal with the capacity above 2GB.
I know my LS753 doesn't know how to deal with the larger cards, I'm pretty sure that the 4530 came around the same time.
