Red focus light never turns green and pictures are not clear/focused - what it the problem?

TAKE OFF THE FRONT PANEL AND FIND THE FOCAS ELECTRONIC FOCAS CONTROLS. USUALY BETWEEN THE LEFT SPEAKER AND THE FIRST CRT GUN. PAUSE A DVD WHEN THE CREDITS GOING. OR USE A MENU IN YOUR SAT RECEIVER TO LOOK AT. USEING THE GRID IN THE TV SOMTIMES IS NOT ACCURATE. YOU WILL SEE 6 SMALL KNOBS (RED,GREEN,BLUE)FOCUS AND(RED,GREEN,BLUE)SCREEN DRIVE .FOLLOW THESE STEPS 1 TURNDOWN RED AND BLUE SCREENDRIVE 2 FOCUS THE GREEN (YOU SHOULD SEE SCANLINES) 3 TURN DOWN THE GREEN SCREENDRIVE 4 TURN UP THE RED SD UNTILL YOU SEE RETRACE LINES THEN BACK IT OFF TILL THEY ARE GONE. 5 FOCUS RED (UNTILL YOU SEE SCANLINES) 6 TURN RED DOWN AND TURN UP BLUE 7 FOCUS BLUE (BLUE WILL NOT BE AS GOOD AS RED+GREEN NOW YOU ARE IN FOCUS, NOW YOU NEED TO GET SCREENDRIVE BACK THE BEST WAY IS TO, PAUSE A DVD ON A BLACK SCREEN SELECT PLAY MOVIE AND HIT PAUSE RIGHT AFTER . TURN ALL THE LIGHTS OFF IN THE ROOM AND USE A SMALL FLASHLIGHT TO ADJUST SCREENDRIVE SO YOU DONT MOVE FOCAS BY MISTAKE. THE TRICK IS TO END UP WITH A VERY FAINT GRAY SCREEN WITH EACH COLOR UP AS FAR AS YOU CAN WITHOUT SEEING ANY COLOR ON THE TV. WHEN YOU GET THIS TRY PLAYING THE MOVIE. MAKE SURE THE BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST IN THE TV ARE AT A NORMAL LEVEL BEFORE YOU START . COLOR,BRIGHTNESS,AND FOCUS IS NOW SET TO YOUR DVD PLAYER.DO A FINAL CONVERGANCE AND YOU ARE DONE!
IF YOU CAN'T GET A COLOR TO FOCUS YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THIS MANUALY. SOME TV'S YOU CAN LOOSEN THE NUT ON THE CRT LENS AND MANUALY FOCUS IT. (LIKE AN OLD CAMERA). IF YOU GET THIS FAR YOU MIGHT AS WELL CLEAN THE LENS WITH A VINEGER BASED GLASS CLEANER (SPRAY THE RAG NOT THE TV) TAKE A LOOK AT THE MIROR, CLEAN IF NEEDED. IF THE MIRROR IS REAL DIRTY THEN THE SCREEN MUST BE BAD TOO.TAKE THE SCREEN OFF AND CLEAN THE BACK SIDE IF NEEDED. LOOK INTO THE LENS AT THE PICTURE TUBE YOU SHOULD SEE A NICE BRIGHT CLEAN PICTURE IF IT LOOKS CLOUDY YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE LIQUID IN THE CRT GUNS.I DON,T THINK YOU WAN'T TO TRY THIS YOURSELF. as you take a picture ( scene w/o flash ) slightly press the snap button and wait till red or green box appear, if red box, out of focus. if green box in focus. when green box, make sure you and the focus are very still, then take a clear picture, pressing the button all the way. make sure no shaking as press button either.

You probably knocked or moved the focus lenses when you cleaned the lights (these are actually 3 picture tubes) Each lens has a wing nut that tightens to lock the focus in place if this was moved your focus would be off. Does the blue tube light at all? and when the TV's on is the image clear when you look directly into the Tubes? (the image should be bright and clear -not milky.)

Most of these sets have a SCREEN/FOCUS block---usually all black with 6 controls----you need to look close at it as one row of 3 will be screen controls---don't touch those----the other 3 will be FOCUS- MARKED in little letters will be r,g,b(red,green blue). TWO ways to adjust the focus: 1. carefully locate the blue focus control and adjust to see if blue will improve in focus. 2. each of the 3 large lens where the picture comes out have a wing nut and a slot--you can loosen the nut and turn the lens---usually best focus that way is if the part that turns is in the middle of the available area to move it.

I should point out that all projection sets intentionally de focus the blue--the lines if blue should be clear but never as perfect as green or red--this is normal.

You have a projection light element out. I had the green element go on mine. I had a service agreement so a repair tech changed it.

you push the button half way down (sounds crazy) but that is when you are letting the camera know you want it to focus and when it turns green push the button the rest of the way down

Your pictures are blurry because the camera did not focus properly on the subject.

First, turn on the camera in any picture taking mode (or video mode), then look at the screen or viewfinder. There should be four white corners in the center of the camera display. This is your targeting area.

1. Aim the camera at your subject so this center area is directly on it.

2. Press the shutter button lightly, not all the way down. Wait for a second or two WITHOUT RELEASING YOUR FINGER. If the white corners turn green, keep the finger on the button and press it all the way.

(Once the screen flashes black, a picture is taken and you can release the finger).

If the targeting area turns red and blinks, then the camera has not focused. You can to try to focus again by following step 1 and 2. If a picture is taken when the targeting area is red, then the picture will be blurry.

If there is no targeting area, then you can still focus by aiming the camera at your subject. Now follow step 2. A green box will appear on the subject, then a sharp picture can be taken.

The red arrow that flashes means that the pictures or videos are being written onto the memory card.

Also, try to be steady when taking pictures, because slight hand movement can cause blurry images too.

Page 25 in the DMC-FZ7's english manual will also explain how to focus.

First, this assumes nothing else is going on to cause it. Here's what I did. Go to the 'green grid' via the v76 menu and go through the alignment there. Notice that there are red letters, blue letters, and a green grid. While you are in this screen, adjust the red, green, and blue focus watching the individual color's item until they are in focus. If they won't focus here, they won't focus and you have something else wrong (what I do not know). Then, return to normal programming, then select menu on the remote, then screen, then adjust projection tv convergence both horizontal and vertical crosshare. That ought to get it.

What you may have needed to do was adjust the green & blue crt screens to match the red. Go into your picture menu adjust, turn color all the way down to a black & white px. Now adjust each crt screen so that you end up with a true black & white px. Then adjust each focus control to get a sharp px, have your tv on a channel like the home shopping network so you can adjust each crt focus one at a time for clarity by cover the other 2 up. Then go back into picure adjust & turn color ahlf way up, you should see a better px.
