Re: Dayton ProgrammableThermostat 1UHG4. I'm using this stat with a toe space heater that has a simple 1 thru 10 stat built in that is not very accessible. According to the heater manufacturer all I have to do is connect the black and white wires from the 1UHG4 stat to their wires eliminating their stat. My question is What terminals on the 1UHG4 stat (L,1,N) get the black and white wires from the heater? I suspect white goes to N terminal and the black wire goes to either L or 1 terminal but am not sure.

SOURCE: Re: ProgrammableThermostat 1UHG4. I'm using this

Hi,
Actually it is not quite that simple....

The N wire is the neutral or common and needs to be hooked to the white incoming power on the heater. You will probably have to run a new wire to this from the wire wire that feeds power into the heater...
The L in the line power that runs the t-stat and also provides power back to the heater....that needs to be hooked to the incoming "hot" to the heater. This probably gets hooked to the black wire that was hooked to the old t-stat...
The 1 is the switched power going back to the heater to provide the power to turn on the heater....this probably get hooked to the white wire that was on the old t-stat.

I hope you can follow all of this...I tried to make it as clear and simple as possible...

Nothing ever as easy as the manufacturers try to make you think that it is... :-)

Trouble shoot dayton heater

Either your thermostat control is bad or the contact relay. If you hear the contact relay click when you turn t-stat up relay is probably good, if not its probably t-stat controller.
Hope this helps

I have a Dayton 3VU32 heater. The fan does not turn when the switch is on fan or the other 2 heat settings. The heater does produce heat. Is there a solution, are parts available and where?

Dayton is a Graingers brand. Please contact Graingers at the web site below to see if parts are available. It may be cheaper to just buy a new heater. Hope this helped you...Jim

Hello im tryin to wire a dayton model 2yu68 unit heater 208v .30 amp bbreaker with 10 awg 3 wire and simple thermostat and still wont fire up

Are you using this heater for a residential application? 208V is typically only seen in a commercial/residential setting. It would be unusual for a home to be wired in what they call 3 phase which is how a 208 voltage is obtained.

Hope this helps. I would strongly advise that you consult with an electrician as 3 phase voltage is not for the average DIY'r.

Trying to install used Dayton 3E367C garage furnace. Wondering if anyone has a wire diagram or can explain colored wires. Thanks for the help. Wayne

in or on the heater there should be terminals labelled R, W1, W2 if its a 2 stage and G for fan only operation hook up any color of wires as long as the W on the stat is hooked up with W on the heater and so forth but for heat only operation utilize the R and W terminals only.

Thermostat not firing central heating

the stat works using a bi metalic strip so that click you here is making a contact and telling the boiler to call for heating so if you getting no click you need a new room stat. Replace with same model and note the wiring most stats only use 2/3 wires depending on system
