I am running Windows XP desktop which has been slowing down, even after frequent disk clean-ups and defrags when needed I have been getting frequent messages of "END PROGRAM: This program is not responding.... then "You chose to end the non-responsive program, Internet Explorer. Please tell Microsoft about this program" and then "Send Error Report" Nothing improves after sending these "error reports" to Microsoft...don't understand the problem :(

The harddrive might be corrupted. Start backing-up your important data to some flash drives as soon as possible before it crashes. The do a factory recovery of the computer. Consult your user manual to find out how.

My computer is extreamly slow. I click on a desktop icon and then wait and wait for it to respond. My computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows XP

Do a Disk Cleanup and a Defrag of the hard drive to get all the TMP files and Cookies out of the system. You find these under the Accessories tab in XP and then go to System Tools. Then you need to clean the Registry with a registry cleaner. Here is a good free one I use all the time.http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner. Today with all the surfing on the Web you get massive amounts of clutter and weekly need to do the above steps to keep the system clean. Phil Let me know if I can help you more. [email protected]

I have a dell computer and its running slow

Disk Clean up is a small percentage of what you need to do. As you go by installing and uninstalling programs a lot of debris of programs keeps the Windows Registry bloating more and more. And each time you give a command it has to read the registry which takes time. And you feel the computer is slowing down.
Solution:-
Go to www.ccleaner.com and download CCleaner free and install it. Run it and clean up the registry and all others extra baggage that slows the computer down. And wach your PC/laptop gallop after that.

Hello Mike, Hi, may I suggest you try first to defrag your hard drive, Im sure when you power on your PC, the hard disk led keeps on blinking, your hard drive may have developed bad tracks and sectors, this slow moving process tends to go forever.

Defragmenting and checkdisk can find faults and bad sectors and tracks that slows down the performance of your PC.

Reformatting should be done if your defragmentation procedure fails to speed up your PC.

Try to run an antivirus program, which may help speed up your PC by detecting viruses, that tends to load forever, or slow down the booting process.

Need to speed up my computer

Several ways of doing this. As far a software goes install Glary utilities. your can have it installed for you for FREE by going to www.ninite.com

then checking Glary and then clicking on Get Installer. Once it downloads the installer just click on it and it will install Glary Utilities on your computer. Not only does it clean, it defrags your hard and defrags your REGISTRY.
