Grinder is only turn to a smaller # when its grinding. You can turn to a larger # any time. There is a dial on the panel that controls how much water goes through the brew unit.
What do your grinds look like. If they are like sugar granules your Ok, but if they are very coarse you grinder has come apart and needs to be cleaned and snaped back together. If you look at the white cork screw in the center of the grinder it should be centered and not to one side.
