I have had a SIR-PNR1 for about 5 years. It has been working great. Now I get "aquiring signal" and for a brief minute it says Sirius but goes away. While it first start the channel is 000 then after the brief reception it changes to 124(my usual channel). I replaced the antenna and get same symptoms. I get an antenna error while it is disconnected. Can you still buy the SIR-PNR1 or do you need to change to SIR-PNR2.

I'm having the same problem and all they reccommend is unplug the unit from the back for ~2 minutes and then plug it back in and power up.

I had the same problem and I replaced my car antenna. That resulted in immediate signal improvement. But three months later, the same thing. So, another dot micro car antenna. Three months later, the signal went out again. The home kit worked perfectly. In my case, I bought a Sirius outdoor home antenna and replaced the standard indoor/outdoor antenna that came with the home kit. I took the home kit antenna and connected it to my S50 car kit and positioned the antenna on the front of the dash. No problems since then. Not one. Those dot antennas are horrible. I'd check that before getting a new radio.

Not advised. They have different resistance and are set up for different Sat signals. Chances are you will decrease the life of your radio if you get a signal at all.

SOURCE: SIRIUS Sportster "Acquiring Signal"

Let me save you $30.00. A new antenna will not help, nor will cleaning the contacts. I just did both of those and it did not help. I have mine in the freezer right now cooling it down. Sirius told me that I should not leave it in the car because it gets to hot. They told me to buy another unit....

My radio is showing aquiring signal.how can i get it fixed

I heard these have a common problem with the antenna line breaking within the radio. I had it happen and replaced the radio. It's a shame since I'm sure I could have fixed it. I think it happens if the radio ends up hanging from the antenna lead. Any electronic tech or engineer should be able to check continuity from the antenna jack and find/fix it.

The dispaley states "aquiring antenna" but never finds it,can this be fixed?

Yes. However, it depends on what is causing the acquiring signal message. It could be that you just have to replace the dock or antenna. But it could also mean the unit is going bad, in which case it would need to be repaired. www.tss-radio.com has a repair guy, though with that unit being discontinued for as long as it has, he may not have parts. You may have to search around for a replacement on amazon or ebay.

My radio recently just says aquiring signal...it never does. What is wrong

I used a solution from another post on this site. Use heat gun to heat pc board after removing tuner assembly. Take care with the amount of heat used.

I bought a new kia with sirius installed already. I live in FL and I park my car in a garage overnight and when I go out to work at 7:30am my sirius does not work. I will drive 15 minutes to workand it is...

I'm having same problem with XM radio in new 2011 Nissan Frontier. If the temp is above 32F in morning it acquires signal within a minute. If below, stays "loading" all the way to work (30 minutes) Come out later when warmer and functions normally. Could be antenna connection or cold throws tuner frequency off slightly. Interested in suggestions as Dealer will probably need guidance.

Aquiring Signal displays for 5-10 minutes before hearing audio

It's a bad Sirius tuner. You can find them on ebay for 50 or so rebuilt and they are better than new. It's cold solder joints on the antenna input plug. Hope this helps

Loses signal every 10 minutes or so. Screen says aquiring signal for a few seconds then it comes back on. Has never done this before

I hope this doesn't seem like a dumb question, but are you driving a different route and do you lose your signal when going under bridges, heavy tree cover etc.?

Starmate 4 acquiring signal

With the antenna plugged in, it may take a minute to aquire the signal. If it takes more than a minute there is a problem with the antenna or the reciever.
