Screen goes black or pixelates

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Dual Monitors. #1 works fine. Plug inb #2 and #1 goes to sceeen saver and #2 stays blank.

Both monitors must be plugged in when the computer is started for the second monitor to be detected, and you must configure the second monitor once the computer has started
In windows XP: control panel -> display -> settings tab -> select second display -> check "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" -> click apply
In windows vista/7: control panel -> adjust screen resolution -> select second display and then under "multiple displays" select "Extend desktop to this display"

What do you mean your screen goes black. It is black to start isn't it? Does it come on at all?
If you meam you are getting a display, but it goes off, you need to check the power settings for your monitor, that are set by your PC. Click start, then control panel, then double click display. Then in the Dispay Properties window, click the Screensaver tab at the top middle. In the lower half of the page which opens, you can find power settings, and the rest is self explanatory. If this is not the answer to your problem, you need to give more detailed information.
One check you can do is to disconnect the signal cable from your monitor, and switch power on, and see what is displayed. You may well need a new monitor, but before running off to buy one, try to borrow one to connect to your pc, and also if possible, try to connect your monitor to another pc, or to a notebook/laptop.

You might need to change the screen refresh rate. Go do Control Panel> Display> Setting> Advance, choose 60 Hz. In order to make your Monitor able to display, restart the PC, press F8 on the keyboard frequently upon splashing ( 1 or 2 seconds after PC restarts). Select enable VGA mode by pressing up arrow of the keyboard> press enter. The display should look bigger, then you can start adjusting the screen refresh rate to 60 Hz

You need to:

- Connect everything with the laptop turned off
- Boot the laptop
- Use the Fn key plus F8 or F9 (I'm trying from a small picture of the keyboard!) to cycle through the external display options.

No Signal when desktop wants to load

It does not hate that monitor. I believe the problem is in the settings on your video. Your monitor cannot display them. You will most likely need to start your computer in safe mode and change the display settings on your video card or, alternatively, download updated video drivers. Also, if you can't get Windows to start in normal or safe mode, one of the options you get when you press F8 on startup is to start in VGA mode. That will get you in so you can tweak your settings, which are probably set to a resolution too high for your monitor.
