Try removing the software for the printer again and disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Reinstall the software and after its finished reinstalling, reconnect the USB cable to computer. Many USB printers require you to install the software first without the printer connected to the computer.
as long as it is a socket 478 processor which narrows it down to P4 or celeron ( P4 being better and faster ) it should be fine.
Obviously it will state what processors it can handle in the computer manual so if you find the manual it should state in there.
I dont think it will handle more then a 3ghz P4
