Thompson Wysius 42" plasma woes

Hi,
I have a Thompson Wysius 42" plasma monitor that is attached to a tuner. I
keep both the monitor and tuner on standby. When I start the system, it first
floats between finding a dvi signal or a rgb signal (both come on the screen
in a little blue box with a no sound or picture but a text saying looking for a
dvi or rgb signal). I then press on the AVI button on the remote control and
within a few seconds the DVI signal is recognized and I have the choice of
going to AV1, AV2 or AV3. This has worked fine for the four years I have
owned the system.
But yesterday I was not able to get the signal to connect and the system was
stuck in the locating DVI signal/RGB signal. I unplugged with the monitor and
tuner hoping this would deplete the memory. However the system was still
stuck in trying to locate the DVI/RGB signal after I put the power back on. It is
frustrating. Can you help me?
thanks, Dave

PS - does anyone know how to contact Thompson. I can't find any information on how to get customer service or contact them on their website

Where do i plug my cable cord into on my 42 inch sylavania

Hello - The fact is that your TV, as a HDTV ready device, is really a display monitor that does not contain any TV tuner. There is no place to attach your coax TV connector.

To view TV on the unit you would have to either subscribe to cable or satellite TV service or buy yourself an external TV tuner such as listed HERE (I'm not recommending this tuner just showing the kind of device you would need.)

Regards and thank you for using Fix Ya.

Tv is on when plugged in but doesnt respond to any button inputs.shows "snow" on the screen but nothing more. Model is 42wp48a toshiba 42 inch plasma.

This is a display device or monitor only. It lacks a tuner, so there is no way to connect an antenna and tune off air TV channels - and as such; fails the definition of a TV. A TV by very definition is a monitor AND a tuner. Without the optional "RTB421 RCA Terminal Board" installed in the monitor, it can only accept a PC Input signal (VGA).

If the RTB421 is installed, you will be able to choose from PC, Video, S-Video and RGB signals. The full details on this RTB421 Terminal Board and how to connect source video devices for playback is explained on pages 32 through 35 of the manual.

If the RTB421 is installed, and connected to a source video device (Cable TV converter, Satellite Tuner, Blu Ray player, DVD, VCR, etc.) as shown in the manual, you should be able to scroll through the inputs by pressing the Input button on the monitor or remote (make sure the batteries are fresh). Keep the lower left bezel of the monitor clear of obstructions that can block the infrared (IR) remote receiver window.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

My thomson wysius plasma tv comes on but the picture fflashes on and off ive connected pc to screen and is ok,so is it something to do with tuner box.?

You can also try to use the audio and video inputs to narrow the failure down to the tuner.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
