I cannot get my washer restarted after interupting its early normal operation to add an item. I hit the cancel/puase button and when I heard the lock release, I opened the door and added the item. I didn't realize there was a bit too much soap in the washer, so when I opened the door, some suds rolled out, but no big deal.
Anyway, now a I get a blinking red light on any choice, and when I push the start button, nothing happens.
I removed the clothes, some water remains in the washer, and tried the manual drain function, but it too blinks and refuses to respond to the start button.
Thanks, Lumpy816. The pin is indeed gone and that is the problem. I cut a little off a genuine BMW plastic pin like thing and it fit the hole just right, with the door pushing it fully in, all works as it should.
I'll check out the proper replacement part price and take care of it.
Great help. Much appreciated.

Have you checked your door latch? When you opened and re-closed the door you may have broken your latch assembly. Open the door. There should be 2 holes on the door frame. A suare one where the latch goes and a black round one that has a pin sticking out of it. If that pin is missing/ broken, the machine won't run. Have you checked your door latch? If you see the red flashing light during regular operation, this usually means that the outdoor unit was shut off due to a problem and is currently "locked out" from normal operation. ... If the light doesn't go out or the outdoor unit does not restart then there is an issue that will require a HVAC service technician.

I would unplug the unit. Then plug it back in, let it spin the water out and restart the machine, do not add more soap and see it that fixes the problem.
Unplug the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the problem reoccurs, or if an error code is displayed, please let me know so I can assist you further. I hope this helps you.
Press "end of cycle" to get machine to normal. Then plug off the wall.
Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.
