Question about Kenmore 25.1 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Rotating Dispenser System

1 Answer

We have a kenmore side-by-side with in-door water/ice, model # 10650593003. We're having a problem with the icemaker. It seems to be leaking somewhere where the ice is made before it drops into the bin for dispensing. There are these icicles forming from the bottom of the icemaker and I can see where the water has dripped down and frozen on different places in my freezer. Am I going to need a new icemaker here?

One is the icemaker will leak on the auger motor and freeze it up as you describe. If this is the problem the ice will be very solid (hard ice). If this is the case check to see if the tube that feeds the icemaker water is clogged with ice and if so remove the ice and replace the water valve. If not the icemaker may be overflowing, which is still most likely due to a bad water valve.

The other thing that will cause this is an air leak. If it is an air leak the ice will be frosty more like snow than hard ice. But even so it will still cause the auger not to work. If this is the case check the little flap that opens and closes to let ice through the door to see if it is closing properly. Then check the door gasket to see if it is sealing properly.

Turning the temp. down shouldn't help nor hurt your problem.

Most likely ice maker is the problem and would need replacing. Water valve is letting to much water in but the amount of time solenoid stays open is controlled by the ice maker

Icemaker leaks after refilling causing ice cubes to weld into a mass of ice.

I believe your water control valve on the back of refrigerator is leaking slowly and causing this. They are called dual water control valves because the ice maker work on one side and the water dispenser works on the other side. Most ice makers open the water valve forthe ice maker for 7.5 seconds just long enough to fill. Do you have your Sears model numer for example 321.54689 somewhere on your refrigerator or around door frame. Sea Breeze

No water to icemaker. Water in door works well.

the water that enters the ice maker is controled by a thing called a solenoid valve (electricaly operated) the" water in door system" is a manual operated valve.. typicaly when the ejector rolls around to put the ice in the tray the solenoid opens lets water in then closes could be solenoid / wireing or controler
good luck

The freezer door was ajar overnight and now the icemaker is leaking water

chances are alot of the ice melted overnight. remove all of the ice cubes, dry everything out and then wait a full 24 hours for the icemaker to produce ice cubes.

Icemaker leaks are common and cannot always be solved. May need a new Icemaker. Ofter you can obtain a kit from Lowes (use a Whirlpool kit.)

Trouble with ice-maker

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.
