Rca rtd155 dvd player continues to read no disc with a disc in it.

Try to play a CD audio. If it plays OK then the video laser is bad in the player. If it doesn't play, open the player and inspect the lens for dust and clean carefully with a "Q" tip with alcohol. If these remedies don't work, then replace the drive.

I lost original RCA RTD155 remote and want to know where to get one,or can I use a universal one

I would recommend getting a Logitech Harmony remote. The benefit of this universal remote is that you can program macros to start all of your devices in whatever order you want them to turn on so you can have programs like "Watch DVD or Watch TV", the remote will switch your TV to the appropriate input and output channels.

 

The other good thing about this remote is that you can program buttons specific to your device. You simply plug this into your computer and type in your model number and it loads all of the codes automatically. The RTD155 is supported by the Harmony series.

Continues to say no disc when there is defiantly one in there
Maybe the dvd cannot read the disc.or defective optical lens or defective spindle motor.

This is due to faulty DVD lens/head. Try cleaning it with DVD/CD lens cleaning CD.If still the problem persists, contact near by service center for replacing the faulty Lens.

If the DVD is not reading any CD, then it is often a lens problem.

If th lens cleaner does not work the unit must be taken apart, to clean the lens pickup with isopropyl alcohol and soft cotton tips.

In some case is necessary to replace the lens pickup, as this is defective.

The question should be marked as solved because the one ANSWERABLE question, about the DVD being recorded, is NO, unless it is a home movie. Not only is it illegal, but also VERY difficult to do. and your equip is not cabable. Thanks!
