Same problem with 32 inch JVC Series D. Thunderstorm. Now the power light blinks. Unresponsive except for about the first three seconds after being plugged in, when you can turn the unit off, either using the remote or the button on the main console. Can also turn the TV back on (by either method -- remote or console button), and again off within the first three seconds. After longer than that, the power light starts blinking and the unit becomes completely unresponsive, even to the off button on the console. Only way to turn it off is to unplug it. After plugging it back in, same thing -- responsive for only about the first three seconds. (By "responsive" I mean only to being turned off. No picture or sound or response to the Menu button or changing channels.)

I took off the back cover and checked the fuse which was OK. I just read on another post that there's another fuse somewhere, but I didn't see it. Guess I'll have to take the back cover off again and have another look.

This is usually an indication for a scan failure, and or high voltage failure. Also, the power supply may be damaged.

Depending on the nature of the failure, this type of service can be sort of expensive. I sugget to get an estimate before deciding.

Sanyo TV Mod# DS3225, TV lost all power during thunderstorm, is there a reset button or breaker?

short andwer NO! You coulod try unplugging it for about 12 or even 24 ghours to see if it will hard reset.
However if you don't have spike arrestor circuit then it's possible that the power supply has beeen spiked and died. Not a matter of replacing the power supply either as other damage is always done in these situations.
Better to have it proifessionally fixed.

Sony Wega Kv-36XBR250 screen blinking

I have seen this flashing before, this could be an indication that the picture tube is weak, what happens is that if the white balance is off there is a circuit called akb it monitors the kathode of each gun and if they are not in balance it will attempt to balance it out. if it can't the picture will begin to flash, sometimes in some models the power light will blink 5 times. On some models the power light will only flash if the tv gives up trying to compinsate for white balance and shuts off compeletely. If you see the tv shutting off with 5 blinks then you know for sure it is time for a new set.

The timer on button flashes

The timer light blinking indicates a failure in the TV set. Either the vertical circuit or horizontal circuit has failed and needs repair. It actually has nothing to do with the timer circuit.
In my experience its probably a vertical output chip, smalla capacitor and zener diode. There may also be an open resistor.
Cost to repair in the 50-75 dollar range usually

I have a sony wega

Generally speaking whent he set shuts itself down, the standby light will blink a code. This will be a count followed by a short pause and then the count again etc.

When teh set shuts down, count the blinks and post it here. That will indicate the circuit that has the problem.

TV won't turn on

The set is in protective shutdown because a problem was detected. The 5 blink code indicates that the problem circuit. In this case it is the blanking circuit. Were there any indications of problems prior to the storm? If not, I'll need to lok up this one for the specifics. Do you intend to repair this yourself?

Let me know and I'll provide the details.
Thanks,

On Timer Blinking TV won't come on

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
