Let it sit until you get an error message or the computer displays a window. It might be fixing itself. Do not remove the power during the process - this usually happens after an update from Microsoft has installed the update.

Cursor and text jumps for dell inspiron 1150

Click the Windows "Start" button or press the "Windows" key. The "Start" menu opens. Type "Cursor blink" in the "Search programs and file" text box. A list opens. Click "Change Cursor Blink Rate." The "Keyboard Properties" window opens. Click the "Speed" tab. A list of options appears. The "Cursor Blink Rate" section shows a "Cursor Blink Rate" slider displaying a range from "None" to "Fast." Click and drag the slider button to the "None" area in the far left portion of the "Cursor Blink Rate" scale. Click "Apply." Click "OK." The cursor stops flickering on the screen.

Will not boot...only blank screen with blinking cursor. how do I fix it

You have hard drive issues or windows files are corrupted, remove hardware and reseat it back in place, sometimes this will get the hard drive working, if this fails! set the boot order to DVD CD and try and run the recovery disc, if no change! it means the hard drive has issues and may have to be replaced.

My Dell Inspiron 1545 will not load windows. The screen is lit but it is blank. I have taken out the battery and reinserted. What else should I do?

Is the screen black with the cursor blinking at the top left?
I have a suspicion that the coin sized battery is dead.Go to www.dell.com and get a service manual, replace the coin battery (Lithium battery). Put it all back together and it should work.

My laptop screen just went blank when i turned it on this morning. I only see a blinking cursor on top left of the screen

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing left for you to do is to reinstall Windows using the recovery cd.

When I turn my Toshiba A45-S151 laptop on, I first get the screen that shows the Toshiba logo and has the four icons under the logo. Usually the next screen is black, has a cursor in the top left corner,...

My inspiron 4150 will not boot to windows 7 after the dell logo. I have a blank screen with small cursor blinking

Try to press ESC and reset your BIOS and try for a manual boot. Try to access from a safe mode or if not your OS may be faulty. You will need to get all your files transferred before you attempt to format and reinstall Windows. However if the set starts up try to open control panel and open backup/restore to set the laptop to an earlier date. I hope this help you out to start trying. Good day

Black screen with blinking cursor upon start up

You don't say what Windows are you using.
Anyways, it seems like you have a corrupted BOOT problem.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can insert your Windows installation CD, and choose the "Repair my pc" option.
Windows will do it automatically fro you, and you'll be up and running in a couple of minutes.

Dont forget to rate this answer if it helps.
