Yet again same problem occurred!!!! Freezing on start up screen or resetting itself when using it. Problem seems to be fixed by buying a new memory card, not a tomtom one though, I got a sandisk ultra 2 and its been working fine ever since

This problem has different solutions depending on your tomtom model.
A flat and or faulty battery on some models and a faulty display panel on others. More info required
The spontaneous poweron is a bug in app 8.01. Models with that app tuen themselves on exactly 1 week after they've been turned off. A workaround is to hold the power button forever until you see a black sceen with debug writing on it. Then shut it off and it should stay off.
sounds like it is time for a GPS upgrade, when you go looking for a new GPS consider this, I see allot more problems here on fixya with Tomtom than with Garmin units about 10 to 1.
Users will continually need to quickly change the volume on a TOMTOM units,
depending on the loudness of traffic noise, the radio or conversations.
Although there are no external volume controls, the volume on the ONE
can be easily accessed on screen by touching the bottom left corner of
the map display. Once the volume controller appears you just slide your
finger to increase or decrease volume. We found the audio levels a
little softer on this unit and had to set the volume to around 60% or
70% in order to clearly hear it.
1. Turn on the TomTom unit.
2. Tap the screen to bring up the menu.
3. Tap the "Change Preferences" icon
4. Keep hitting the arrow to go to the next page. Clock setting is on page 6 of the preferences dialog.
5. If the Set Clock option is greyed out, you will need to perform a system reset and then perform these steps over again.
To reset the system, start with the power off. Then, hold down the power button for about 15 seconds, until you see the TomTom logo appear on the display. When the logo appears, release the power button. After this reset, you should be able to turn the unit back on and proceed with your setup from scratch.
Make sure you have "never turn off screen" checked, To do this tap "change prferences" tap the forward arrow until you see "battery saving preferences". Tap "battery saving preferences" then tap "never turn screen off". Tap "done" and make sure that "switch off when external power is lost" is not checked. Tap "done". If you do not see this option go back into "change preferences" tap the forward arrow until you see "show menu options" it should read "show fewer munu options"
Are you talking about the easyport mount on the XL 330S model? If so it applies fairly easily in a secure snap. When I tested out the new mount, it was fairly easy to snap on without any added pressure. TomTom has great customer service and I'm sure they'll help out to the best of their ability and if it was in fact defective, you're bound to get a replacement. TomTom doesn't want any unhappy consumers. It's a shame it broke, because it is actually a great device.
