My hunter fan with heat and light and remote does turn on anymore. All of a sudden the fan stopped working but the remote still seems to be fine. The remote has a reverse button,4 buttons for fan spped 0 - 4) and then a light and a heater bitton. The remote also has a little blue light on the top which lights up when you press any of the buttons, therefore I think the remote is still working.
The remote with fan all came together, as a single purchase. I did not purchaes the remote separately.
The remote does not work the fan, and the fan does not have separate string controls.
Is there something I can do to test / fix the fan?

Your ghost problem was probably due to a loose connection. The wire has probably come completely loose or the heat from the loose connection has damaged the relay.
most of my fan controls have done this to me. you know the reciever is working cuz the fan works fine. you need to dis assemble the remote completely and clean the contacts for the light button. mine are two small black dots that seem to keep getting slimey and wont work till i clean them, then all works like brand new again.
It is wired so that you control the light with the remote. You cannot have it both ways. You either control it with the wall switch or the remote. Once you kill the power to the receiver by turning off power at the wall switch, you are only applying power to the receiver when you turn power back on. You are not supplying power to the light. You then must turn on the light with the remote. This is the purpose of a remote fan/light control. You could rewire it to control the light with the switch and only control the fan with the remote if you wish, but as you have it now, it is working correctly.
I had the same problem and I thnk Hunter Fan knows about it....I just called Hunter Tecnical Support at 901-745-9222 and they sent me a new White circular receiver which goes inside of the canopy and it worked fine after installing the receiver....
