The DSCW80 Camera is supplied with the BC-CSGB Battery Charger which can be used to charge the battery of the Camera by inserting it to the charger.
You may also use the ACLS5K AC Adapter (not supplied) for charging the battery by using the Multi-connector cable of the Camera.
It sounds like depleted batteries. If you've replaced the batteries, then you may want to pursue warranty replacement. A high Mega-Pixel camera like yours will drain batteries quickly.
Make sure your batter is fully charged, and is not bad. This kind of reaction can happen with a weak battery or partly charged. If that is not it, then the camera needs repair.
