SOURCE: canon pixma mp600 error code 5100

try this solution..from fixmyprinter.com

This particular error had stumped me for a while, but I finally found the cause. As others had pointed out before, it can have alot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You're on the right track - I found the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

There's a couple things you can try:

First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.

Double check that your ink tanks are seated right too

If you STILL have the error code, try these two types of resets:

To clear the memory:

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
To do a stop/reset:

To clear error messages displayed on the LCD or if the printer is not functioning as expected, it may be necessary to simultaneously press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF buttons.
  1. With the printer powered on, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the <Stop/Reset> button then press the ON/OFF button.

  2. Once the printer is powered off, hold down <Stop/Reset> and then press <ON/OFF>.
If none of the above clears it up, you may have to have the machine serviced.. check to see if you are still under warranty.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: Canon MP600 Printer - How do I fix error code 5100

Hi Whitey621
Error code 5100 Try
Solution 1:
Look inside for a tiny object like a piece of paper, a staple...

Solution 2:
There is a thin plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt: there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start-up sequence.
Gently clean this strip with a damp lint-free tissue
Hope It Helps: Pineworks.

I need to import pictures from my laptop to my canon powershot a490 but i cant seem to? help please?!

Be sure that there is at least one picture (just take one) on the memory card. This ensures the canon folder structure is in place. Put your memory card in a card reader. Copy the files from the laptop to the memory card.

For canon, you will see subfolder on the memory card DCIM and under that another folder, something like 136CANON (the 136 could be any number). Put the pictures in that one and you should be able to see them on the canon powershot a490

When i start canon photocopier ir-2016j , its shows error download standby

Your machine appears to think it's waiting for a file (like an update). Somehow it was put into download mode (only a canon tech would know how to). You need to have a canon technician to either reset the machine or if there is a legitimate problem put it into factory default.
It may be a hard drive error from my experience.

Canon iPF8100

that indicates poor connection of the hard disk connection.
you have to remove and put back the disk and if the problem remains then you have to buy one from your local market and put it.
That might solve your problem
