The warranty on any '20GB' disk-drive ended _years_ ago.

It is time to "retire" that disk-drive -- take a hammer to it, so that any data files on it will _never_ be able to accessed by the F.B.I.,
and buy a new disk-drive.

the dearlership should know what you need. the reason the socket is so different is to let you know, the stuff in which contained in this part is very sensitive and could major problems if you are not sure what your doing

IBM Travelstar hard drive

The IBM webite will have the software located under the support link. You will need to lookup your specific model # and then the files will appear. Download and install those that you need. Hope this helps.

Adapter for reading harddrive

Maplin sell them at £9.99,
However there are quite a few on Ebay.
You should be able to pick one up cheaper than that.

Getting files off an old IBM TravelStar 20 GB Hard Drive

You can buy an adaptor that will connect your hard drive to a pc.
Ribbon cable from your secondary drive on pc goes into the adapator. Adaptor also coonects to laptop harddrive.
You also need to change from being a master driveto be a slave drive . see linkbelow.

You can then copy file to pc a usb memory stick.

Dell laptop with no cdrom and travelstar HDD

In this case you would have to...

1) preformat the drive

2) make it bootable in DOS

3) copy the CD contents to the drive

4) boot the target computer with the drive and run WINNT.EXE in the I386 directory to start the install.

*OR*

1) preformat the drive

2) copy the CD contents to the drive.

3) put the drive in the target computer and boot it from a DOS bootable floppy.

4) run WINNT.EXE in the I386 directory to start the install.

I connect harddrive IBM Travelstar 20 GB Model IC25N020ATCS04-0 (made in Thailand) to PC via USB port but cannot open ,LED is light .How can I do , I have no driver.Pls. help me.
