Hi! I am trying to fire up a Toshiba 2590X and think the on switch is to the right of the Windows button on the top row, right hand side, but nothing happens. The power green and orange lights are on. Help please! I fear the hard disk is gone. I want to extract photos from it before disposing of the machine. Paul

HCL-Toshiba Satellite 2590X (from India?)
that big battery is no good now this old, take it out leave it out
now on AC power pack power only turn it on.
if it is gone, then the HDD can be removed and put in
a hdd case, with USB plug, and used on other PCs.
there at 3 ways to capture data
1: fix the dead PC or boot a Linux usb stick and get data.
2: guy the USB case put the HDD in it and get the data on any PC;
3: move hdd to desktop with lots of SATA ports plug it in and....
4: some better laptops have 2 HDD bays. so.... yah
there are your choices

on the internet googling 2590X is obscure, whY IDK.
I found 2690CdS/CDT with Windows 95, omg old, belongs in trash.
spec sheet says 1996 ,22 years old. (a non SATA PC)
pull hdd and dump the rest
with NON sata PC you would need to do step1, or other steps
above with a custom HDD adaptor.
pull the hdd , read the label and tell the helper what model HDD you have, lacking a spec, full, we'd never know.
(2.5" Enhanced IDE) spec.
most these hdd then have custom, designed IDE interface.

ask vendor I this will work, show him your HDD model #

Remove the battery and see if it starts up fine, if not then try the following:

1. Unplug your charger cord.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds or longer
4. Now plug back in the power/charger cord.
5. Now put the battery back in.
6. See if it starts up now, laptops often get stuck in hibernate mode.

SOURCE: Computer not powering up / no light at hard drive.. but power to machine

Ok...since there are lights..then it's most likely, not your power supply.'
We need a few questions answered so we can narrow it down to what it could be.

1. What operating system are you running, harddrive, ram, some computer specifications would help?
2. What was being done last, when the computer went out...it could possibly be a virus, so we need to find out if a file was opened up, or an email, things like that.....was there something installed...do any beeps beep when the computer starts up>

Let me know these things and we'll narrow it down to something solvable..

Thanks

SOURCE: hard disk icon has dissapeared from desktop

Try this. Click on the desktop Then from the "Finder" menu choose "Preferences". In the "General" tab, make sure all the boxes are ticked - especially the one for "hard disks".

How to connect power swicth on MSI RS482M4-ILD Motherboard

http://www.xpcgear.com/msirs482m4.html

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the main wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

What you need is a Front Panel header pinout.

Looking at the photo in the link above, the Front Panel header is AT the bottom corner.

Motherboard mounted in the computer case, the header of pins all the way to the Right, and Bottom, is the JLPC1 header.

The JLPC1 header is used for board level debugging by MSI, and is not used by the consumer.
[Two rows of pins. Third one from right missing, Top row ]

The header to the left of JLPC1 is the JFP1 header.
Front Panel Header. {Junction Front Panel 1 }

Two rows of pins.
4 across the Top row, 5 across the Bottom row.
The pins are numbered EVEN across the Top row.
The pins are numbered ODD on the Bottom row.

Starting from the Left side of the motherboard going right;
on the Top row,
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO pin 10.

Starting from the Left side going to the right; on the Bottom row,
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when operating, switch the two wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the Power On LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

Windows doesn't row up down

How many windows do not roll up? If it is all of them it is the fuse under your dash usually on the left hand side of the driver. But if it is only one window then it is the switch button. They have contacts inside that get coroded and need to be cleaned. Its kinda tricky but simple if you pay attention when taking the switch apart. Let me know, The Raz

Ford ka fuse box diagram

did you find one? I think I've just figured it out. If looking at the fuse box you have two rows of fuses. Working from the top right hand side as Number 1 along to 6, then continuing from 7 to 12. The second row works from right hand side at 13 along to 18 then continues from 19 to 24. Bit odd, reading from right to left! Hope this helps. Suzanne
