My mother received the Durabrand CD-1493 for Christmas. She has just recently tried the CD player on the unit and it skips. We tried a brand new CD and also older ones and burn copies. It doesn't matter they all skip. We do not have a receipt and the local Wal-Mart where the person said they purchased it does not carry this unit at this time. There is a manufactured date of October 2007 on the unit. Is there anything we can do?

My durabrand cd-1493 which is less than 5 months old does the same thing. It skips or sounds like it has a lot of static and then will play for a few seconds and does it again. Very annoying. Wal-mart in my area no longer carry this product or model. Where can I get help to solve the problem. The player looks good, but plays crappy. I've tried moving it to another location, different household plugs , tried different cd's , new and old and can't stop the static and skipping. Help
The cd player worked perfectly fine for about one year. It began skipping occasionally, then consistently. The cds play ok in other devices, i.e., in the car.
Have tried cleaning the cds, cleaning the optical eye of the cd player, etc., but unit still skips.
Any ideas?
Originally, I had the same problem. Then it got worse, and now the CD player won't work at all. Also, I need the instruction book.
