I had success with this memory card pic recovery software named asoftech photo recovery. here's the steps I followed
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery simply because i was using it and it worked
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is probably not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try at www.download.com.

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

Canon Power Shot SD450 Digital Elph camera started to say "no memory card" when there is Sandisk 2GB in there? What can i do?

2 things the memory card and the recovery of your files.
Your camera was produced in 2005 and in those days only MMC and SD cards could be used. A few years later the SDHC came and 2011 SDXC came. devices are downward compatible. So newer cameras can use also SD cards. But older cameras can't use newer memory cards. Even a SDHC can't be used in your camera. And although I managed to buy a 4GB SD card a few years ago, now they only produce SDHC and SDXC cards. Yes be aware a 1 GB or 2 GB card now ar most of the time SDHC.
Check your card, when it says SDHC, don't try to us it, it won't work.

Then the photos from your parents. It looks we never have taken enough pictures.
When you have old memory cards, please don't use them till you checked if there are still "deleted" pictures on them.
Deleted is most of the time just clearing the pointers to the files. The files in most cases stay on the card.
Try to download some software from this site:
Memory Card Data Recovery
Then run the software, when you have a memory card in a memory card reader and see if it can find "deleted" pictures. Be aware when you use a card with "deleted" pictures, the space that came free, will be used to put new pictures there. SO don't use the cards till you did recover everything to the computer.

There are more free recover program's. I have one form Sandisk, I got it for free with a sands memory card. Login on that site to and see if they still have free program's for Sandisk users.

Recover deleted files on card

For that, you must insert the card in an external memory card reader and connect it to your computer. There are lots of recovery programs on the net, (all memory card brands have one) but you could start here:
Memory Card Data Recovery
When the show you what files you could undelete, but they ask money to do so (for another program) please just look for another program. I did find some free ones, but don't know them all. I use RescuePRO from SanDisk.

My name is Sammi James I have been spamming FIXYA for years - I am one of the best spam experts ever!

Please remove the card off from the camera and have it checked into your PC card reader... or into one in your friends laptop. On scanning you can see the files and also if any errors ( virus) has come into the memory card. If so copy off all the files and format the card.
However if the card is not read then it can be faulty, good to approach the computer service to try for recovery of the important data that is inside without trying any harsh moves.

I accidentally deleted all the pictures files from DCIM file folder on the computer (Imac) using "move to trash" option instead deleted them using camera (nikon D40x) menu. Now, even there is no images on...

Photos can be successfully retrieved from a memory card - however there is a catch. When you delete a photo, you really just tell the camera/computer to act like it isn't there. The actual bits in memory aren't changed to delete it (there is software you can get to actually delete them, but its usually completely unnecessary).
To get back your lost picture files try to use flash file recovery software. http://www.panterasoft.com/file-recovery/index.html

I deleted all my pictures from my sandisk memory card by mistake. Can it be retrieved?

Don't write any files to that Sandisk. You'll overwrite the deleted files. Are you using Windows to read the files off the Sandisk? I think I used the free tool recover files in the past. ( http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/02/recover-deleted-files-with-ntfs-undelete/ ) . There are many programs to recover deleted files. This is a free one.
