I have a Hoover Savvy Bagless Upright. The beater bar does not turn. It does not appear to be the belt.

  • amen_sister Jun 11, 2008

I'm having the same problem! I think it might have something to do with a sensor that tells whether it's in the upright postion or not. I'm looking for answers.

    Anyone know?

Same problem. Hoover Savvy, just replaced broken (lifetime?) belt and on off switch. $70. Now beater bar does not turn, unless I pull it backwards. How do we fix this?

The Savvy has a brush roll motor, whcih could be bad. There also is a circuit board near the brush roll motor, a circuit board underneath the tool holder, and the switch asm. in the handle. Any of which could be the cause of the brush roll not turning. Just needs to be checked to find what is causing the problem.

How do I change the belt?

To change the belt on a Hoover Flair Stick Vacuum, remove all 6 screws from the bottom of the beater bar. There are 2 screws hidden under wheels. You must pop the wheels off with a screw driver to remove the hidden screws. The cogged belt is on the left side of the beater bar. Be careful not to pull the wires.

How do you replace the beater bar belt on the hoover u 6626-900

It is not a "Beater Bar". Hoovers have brush rollers and are easy to replace. Turn the machine over and remove the 4 screws which hold the cover on, over the brush. Remove the brush roller. Slide the new roller through the small belt (self propelled models) and secure into slots (note: slots are different, match roller sides to correct slot.

How do I install a hoover windtunnel vacuum cleaner belt. The bagless one,.

First, take it outside or to the basement. This can get messy. Turn the vacuum cleaner upside down. Remove four 1-1/2" self-tapping screws that hold the bottom cover in place (where the beater bar is.) Remove this and you will see where the belts go; one from the beater bar to a grooved wheel and one from a bowed wheel to a metal spindle way in the back. The beater bar will lift right out. Be sure to clean the threads and pet hair while you're at it.

The beater bar doesn't move when you push the vacuum. If you lift the vacuum while it's running, it's going like crazy!

replace the belt, it is so stretched that it is slipping on the beater bar when it comes in contact with the carpet. it takes the 38528-040 belt. i think its 5 screws on the bottom to gain access to beater bar and belt.

Roller bars on bottom not rolling

The belt has probably broken. Hoover says that the belt on this model should last the life of the vacuum, but that is rarely the case. They do wear and break. Changing the belt is simple and the belts aren't to much. You can get a replacement here:

Beater Bar Belt loose and bar won't turn

Provided that the motor isn't loose, the belt should fit tightly. If you had reassembled the beater bar back in the vacuum improperly, the belt would be tighter, rather than looser. If you are sure that the motor isn't loose and the beater bar was reinstalled correctly, then either tha belt slipped back off the motor shaft, or they sold you the wrong replacement belt.

Hoover US8174-900 Savvy Bagless

It uses a cogged belt, turn it over, remove the bottom plate, remove the other screws from the bottom, turn vac back over and remove the Hoover emblem, there is a screw there to remove and the top comes off, then you can get to and replace the belt.
