Palm 700P stylus problems

When you see the first screen (the orange one) hold the UP button as the bar moves across the bottom of the screen. Let go right before the screen goes to the silver logo. If it continues and opens Prefs, then you need to delete the program causing it to reboot. If that doesn't work, Hard Reset.

Hard Reset Palm Treo 755p or 700pPalmTreo 755p or 700p.
1. Disconnect the Treo from a charger or USB cable.
2. Remove the battery cover and take out the battery.
3. Press and hold Power/Endwhile you insert the battery.
4. When the screen lights up with the logo appears, releasePower/End.
5. Press Up when the Erase all data? prompt appears.
6. Press Up to confirm the hard reset.
7. Go through the steps of setting up the device again by picking a language and calibrating the stylus.
Now your Treo 755p/700p is hard reset. you should have your info on a folder on your computer. hope this helps.

there is a hard reset button under the battery cover on the side where the stylus goes. it should be able to restart your device fully and completely, is some cases you may need to leave the battery in and charging for at least a day or even use a friend's battery , because some glitch certain devices just refuse to boot and also to charge the battery if they somehow recognize the battery then in my case I use my wife's treo battery to be able to get mine jumpstarted. whenever I experienced this after a while I was able to switch back to the original battery and then the device was finally charging that one. weird but true, so we switched to android based devices since. but I remember this issue clearly.

Digitizer is out. Take to a cell phone store to have replaced but be prepared to pay out the nose

Just had the same problem. When you take the battery out, leave it out for 4-5 minutes. Then when you put it in and reset while holding the on/off red button, it should start. Mind did. Good luck.

While holding the power button and re-inserting the battery will prompt you to choose whether or not to erase all data. If you choose "yes" the phone will reset to factory defaults. This should be done as a last resort, but at this point the phone is not functioning at all. Once restored, you can sync it with your pc or laptop and it will import all of your contacts, notes, favorites, and calenders just as it did before. In the future you may want to think about using an SD card for documents or other important information that could be lost in the event you have to reset again.

I just encountered exactly the same issue.
Was using the phone ended the call and was about to place a call when it started the Death Spiral.
All reset options have no effect. Putting the battery in while holding the sync button will produce a color pattern but no functions are available.
I did call Palm USA tech support - apparently they are aware of the issue but have no free solution that they would offer me - for $199 I could send it to them for repair.

Reboot the PC. If that does not work try reseting the palm. One of these usually takes care of the problem.

Verizon suggested a hard reset on my 700w for the same problem. (Hit soft reset and power/end button at same time and hit up on keypad when prompted to reset everything and reboot)
you will loose all of your features but they say it fixes 5/10 times...

It did not work for me but I wanted to share in case.
