The colors look very weak. The green is weaker than the blue. Red seems ok. I have a philips 60 inch rear projection. It almost looks like a haze. The colors are not crisp. .

The TV has coolant in the CRTs that after years of use get cloudy. you will need to have a shop replace the coolant in all three, it is pretty involved so its best to have a trained tech. do it.

Screen hazzy and issue with blue convergence

bad convergence would cause show to look as if it was supposed to be a 3-d movie, if a bulb was going out then people would look purple blue -green,or some other off color, so likely the green bulb is going out from the color of the people you described.

Philips 60PP9202

You have contaminated coolant fluid in the blue and green picture tubes.I do not reccomend that you attempt this repair.A shop should be able to get this unit looking like new again for about $275.

Too much red.

It may be this common problem of older sets like yours the green and blue crt's may have a haze in the crt faces growing. I think if I remember right and this sounds like a lie but air has entered into the cooling fluid and bacteria or mold is growing and cover the crt faces look directly down into the crt's and see if there is a haze in them. If so you must change the cooling fluid this is a job not for the novice after changing the fliud and remounting the tubes a total reconvergence must be done and DO NOT SPILL any fliud onto ANY CIRCUIT board it will cause TROUBLE BEYOND BELIEF.

Philips 55 inch hdtv rear projector

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Green dot in middile of my screen

The green dot in the center sounds like a burn mark on one or more of the picture tubes inside the set, and the curved lines are telling me that you have a problem in the convergence circuits. The blue haze around everything white tells me you either have a lot of dust build up on the lens over the CRTs, or your picture tube(s) are very weak. If this set is over about 12 years old, I would replace it. I doubt if you will be able to get the green dot out of the picture without changing the tubes which would be VERY expensive.
