Question about Polder Triple Digital Timer Model 891-90

I have a polder digital thermometer with two probes--but I didn't get instructions with them.. Can I insert the probe in the oven with the meat cooking or use only with the meat out of the oven to test it quickly.

Timer is not identified for certain.
1) Some Polder timers have in-oven thermometer, and others say not to use thermometer inside oven.

2) The 12453 dual-sensor says inside-oven is ok

3) The 894 dual sensor says inside-oven is ok

4) TM360 dual probe says inside-over is ok

The best thing you can do is to buy a BBQ digital thermometer that you place in the meat during cooking. They have a heavy duty wire with a temperature probe on the end. Sear the meat directly over the coals (or hot side of a gas grill), then move the meat to a cool side and then insert the temperature probe and close the grill lid. Cook until it reaches desired temp, for me 125 degrees is perfect. The total cooking time is hard to judge as it depends on your grill cooking temp, but the digital thermometer takes all of the guesswork out of the equation as to when the meat is done.

The buttons should tell you what to do, they are all made be same people just take a few minutes to play with it. Normally set temp you want, or set time you want, pretty easy

yes - digital probe thermometers are very good for testing whether meat is cooked. The thin sensor is inserted into the fattest part of the meat. A wire then runs from the sensor out of the oven door, so that you can keep an eye on the temperature without having to keep taking it out the oven.

I used my Polder meat thermometer in my gas grill. The fat off the meat cause flames to touch the probe. When I looked at the read-out it said 406 degrees F and then HI degrees F. Now it just reads HI...

It is possible that the therrmometer has over shot the limit set on it .It can be spoiled because the hat was in direct contact with the probe and has resulted in the failure of the unit.

Hi.

1 Consider that most digital thermometers take a temperature in less than 30 seconds, quickening the temperature-taking process for squirmy children.

2 Read the thermometer's instructions carefully. Never throw the instructions away. Keep them near your digital thermometer.

3 Wipe the thermometer probe with a soapy washcloth or a tissue dabbed in isopropyl alcohol or put on a clean probe, depending on your brand of thermometer.

4 Turn the thermometer on.

5 Use a gentle rocking motion as you insert the thermometer into the ear canal or rectum. Never push or cram the probe into the body. Forcing it causes pain, especially if there is swelling in the ear canal or rectum.

6 Listen for the beep.

7 Remove the thermometer.

8 Read the thermometer. If you see "ERR," you did not get good contact with the ear canal or rectum, and will need to take the temperature again.

9 Use the chart insert that comes with your thermometer to see what your normal reading should be.

10 Clean your thermometer probe with a soapy washcloth and/or isopropyl alcohol before storing.

Hi,

Here is what Kitchen Aid says about F4:

F4 Meat probe shorted
1. Disconnect meat probe and measure probe resistance (78kω at 60° F [15.6° C],
37kω at 90° F [32.2° C]).
2. If resistance is not valid replace probe.
3. Insert probe and check for a firm connection between probe and jack (in oven cavity).
4. Check connection between jack and harness (in rear of oven).

It sounds like the probe jack may be bad or the wiring between the jack and the control board above.

I left mine in a hot tub for well over an hour. It started reading room temp at about 125 degrees. It worked for me to put the thermometer in the freezer until the readings were correct. hope this works for you.

I have the same problem. The problem is the probe went bad. I had a friend with another sumbeam digital probe (the mavrick) put that probe into mine and the temperature reading was working properly. So, now I am looking for a replacement probe. but looks like I will have to just buy another digital meat probe.

Polder Oven/Meat Thermo-timer Have the instructions that came with it and have read them and experiments with settings. How to we adjust DOWN? Seem only to be able to set UPWARDS. IN other words, let's day I wsantest a set point of 250 deg F, but I overshot it and entered 260. How woudl I adjust it DOWN back to 250?
