Brother FAX-8070P memory shows full and does not send all pages at one time?

This message means the memory capacity of the unit has been exceeded. The amount of memory used depends on the amount or type of data on the documents being faxed or copied.
  1. If you get an "Out of Memory" message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop/Exit to cancel scanning.
  2. If you get an "Out of Memory" message while scanning a subsequent page, you can either press Fax Start to transmit the pages that were scanned so far or press Stop/Exit to cancel the operation.

When Fax Storage is set to On, a copy of all received faxes are stored in the memory, thus using up a % of the memory available for other functions.
The Fax Storage feature is utilized for Fax Forwarding, Fax Paging and Remote Retrieval. If you do not need these features, verify Fax Storage is set to Off by doing the following:
  1. Press the Menu/Set key.
  2. Press the arrow key until FAX appears on the LCD. Then, press Menu/Set.
  3. Press the arrow key until REMOTE FAX OPT appears and then press Menu/Set.
  4. Pressthe arrow key until FAX STORAGE and then press Menu/Set.
  5. Check the setting. The display will read ON or OFF. If the setting is ON, press the arrow key until the display reads OFF.
  6. Press Menu/Set.
  7. If you have faxes stored in the memory, you will receive a message that reads Erase all fax? 1. Yes 2. No. If you want to erase all the faxes in the memory without printing them out, press 1 (Yes) and then press Stop/Exit.
Note
If you would like to reprint the saved faxes, press 2 (No), press Stop/Exit and continue to the following steps for instructions on how to print stored faxes.
If you do need the features that require Fax Storage to be On, the stored faxes will need to be erased or printed to remove them from the memory and to allow additional memory to be available. Follow these steps to print the stored faxes:
  1. Press the Menu/Set key.
  2. Press the arrow key until FAX appears on the LCD and press Menu/Set.
  3. Press the arrow key until REMOTE FAX OPT appears and then press Menu/Set.
  4. Press the arrow key until PRINT FAX or PRINT DOCUMENT appears and press Menu/Set.
  5. Press Fax Start.
  6. After printing is finished, press Stop/Exit.

HOW DO I SEND A FAX ON THE BROTHER MFC-5440CN? LOST MY MANUAL

To send a fax, you will have to configure the settings. here are the steps you can follow;

Remote Fax Options;
You can only use one remote fax option at a time:
Fax Forwarding—OR—Paging—OR—Fax Storage—OR—PC FAX Receive—OR—Off.
You can change your selection at any time (Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1).

Setting up Fax Forwarding

When you select Fax Forward, your MFC stores the received fax in the memory. The MFC will then dial the fax number you’ve programmed and forwards the fax message.
  1. Press "Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1".
  2. Press ▲ or ▼ to select "Fax Forward". Press "Menu/Set". The LCD will ask you to enter the fax number to which faxes will be forwarded.
  3. Enter the forwarding number (up to 20 digits). Press "Menu/Set".
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to select "Backup Print:On or Backup Print:Off". Press "Menu/Set".
If you select "Backup Print:On", the MFC will also print the fax at your MFC so you will have a copy if there is a power failure before it is forwarded.
5. Press "Stop/Exit".

Programming your pager number When Paging is selected, your MFC dials the pager number you’ve
programmed, and then dials your Personal Identification Number (PIN). This activates your pager so you will know that you have a fax
message in the memory.
1. Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2. Press ▲ or ▼ to select Paging.
3 . Enter your pager phone number
followed by # # (up to 20 digits). Press Menu/Set.

■ You cannot change a Paging number or PIN remotely.

automatically be printed at the MFC.

Setting Fax Storage
If you select Fax Storage, your MFC stores the received fax in the
memory. You will be able to retrieve fax messages from another
location using the Remote Retrieval commands.
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
Fax Storage.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press Stop/Exit.
Setting PC Fax Receive
If you select PC Fax Receive, your MFC will temporarily store your
received fax messages in its memory, and then automatically send
the faxes to the PC. You can then use your PC to view and store
these faxes.
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
PC Fax Receive.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
Backup Print:On or
Backup Print:Off.
Press Menu/Set.
4 Press Stop/Exit.
If you have turned on Fax Storage, a backup copy will
automatically be printed at the MFC.
  • Before you can set up PC Fax Receive you must install the
MFL-Pro Suite software on your PC, make sure your PC is connected and turned on. (For details, see Using Brother PC-FAX software on page 5-1 in Software User’s Guide on
the CD-ROM.)
  • If you select Backup Print:On, the MFC will also print the fax at your MFC so you will have a copy if there is a power failure before it is sent to the PC.
■ If you get an error message and the MFC cannot print the faxes in memory, you can use this setting to transfer your faxes to your PC.
Turning off Remote Fax Options If you set the Remote Fax Options to Off and there are faxes in your MFC’s memory, the LCD will give you two options.
  • If you press 1, all unprinted faxes will be printed and erased
before the setting turns off. If a backup copy has already been
printed it will not be printed again.
  • If you press 2, the memory will not be erased and the setting will be unchanged.

  1. Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 2.
  2. Enter a three-digit code using numbers 0-9 or . Press Menu/Set. (The preset ‘ ’ cannot be changed.)

Memory full

CANNOT RECEIVE A FAX

Slim1234,
A multitude of problems might cause receive problems, and the User's Guide has no "receive Problems" section under troubleshooting - so here goes:

If I had to guess right off the bat, your problem is probably
that the FAX is in "FAX Storage" mode, and is out of memory.
In this mode, it will print FAXes until it runs out of memory.
See problem "g" below.

   a. Voice mail active on the line - if voice mail and FAX-2820 are
set to answer the line on the same number of rings, there's
no way to know which will answer first.

   b. Voice mail active on line - if voice mail is set to answer in
fewer rings than the FAX, then the FAX will always lose
(but you'll have no problems Xmitting).

   c. Call Waiting active on the line - the call waiting "boop" will
kill incoming FAXes (and outgoing FAXes too, but your
personnel will retry the outging ones until they succeed
and you may only hear complaints about incoming FAXes).

   d. Your FAX-2820 is set to "Manual" or "External TAD" mode.
Reset it to "FAX only" or "FAX/Tel" mode (depending on
your office use of the FAX telephone line).
How to do this: Menu/Set,0,1 <up/down to select mode>
                              press Menu/Set.
NOTE: your LCD display tells you your receive mode:
Mine says "Sleep 22:08 Fax", telling me I'm in "FAX only"
       mode, and its 10:08 PM.

   e. You've set the FAX to RING DELAY - if so, the FAX
must win. Setting ring delay to 00 tells the FAX to answer
the line silently (an advantage for a busy MD's office).
       How to change this: Menu/Set,2,1,1
       Ref: FAX-2820 User's Guide p.4-2

   f. You dont have a shared (FAX/human) line set to
"Easy Receive"; if someone answers the call and
Easy Receive is off, then they need to press START on
the fax machine front panel or dial *51 and hang up.
      How to change it: Menu/Set,2,1,3
      REF: Fax-2820 User's Guide p. 4-2

  g. You may be set up for "FAX storage."  In this mode, received
FAXes will be stored (and printed) until you run out of
memory (quickly done on a Brother FAX-2820), then you
get nada (but sending FAXes still works).
How to reset this: Menu/Set,2,5,1 <up/down>
      REF: Fax-2820 User's Guide p.6-2

  h. You may have set up FAX forwarding.  In this mode, sending
FAXes will work fine, but all incoming FAXes willl be sent
      to another telephone number.
How to turn it off: Menu/Set,2,5,1 <up/down>

If this laundry list of (sending OK, Receiving dead) scenarios
doesn't resolve the problem, email your FAX number to me
and we'll do some cross-country FAX debugging.

                                  Dave in tech support
                                  [email protected]
P.S.
The above features may have been set remotely by a
nefarious (or somewhat knowledgeable) individual - remember
that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing (even for
FAXes). See (extensive) remote programming instructions
on p.6-6 of the User's Manual.

To print out the caller ID list - and possibly find out the
   source of the remote programming:
   Menu/Set,2,0,3 <up/down to "print report">, Menu/Set,
    Start, <Caller ID report prints>, Stop/Exit
   Ref: Brother Fax-2820 User's Guide p.A-3
