The tv model number is hitachi 46w500. the dvd picture is stuck on one screen and now the dvd won't eject.

Model does not sound like Hitachi but if it is have you unplugged the set? The magic focus is a auto convergence circuit in the Hitachi sets.

The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv have colors lines R,G,B mis alignment,have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike.The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead too.These parts,must be replaced on the tv convergence board to solved the tv picture convergence problems.The shop,will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

DVD has AV out pins at rear, hook AV cable between DVD player out and TV AV input (yellow-red-white RCA pins) and select that AV input in TV by remote that you hooked DVD.
That will switch TV to that input and TV will show you DVD player picture.

Have you tried pushing the "magic Focus" button?

Does it say locked with just the TV on, or could the locked signal be part of a parental lock from a satelite or Cable receiver?

Need alittle more info . What is the model # . And does any of the lights on front come on or do you hear a click?

My Hitachi 46W500's DVD tray will not open. My son about 2 - 3 years ago said he had done something to he tray that may have caused this, is there any way to fix it at home ?

Go to the panel (on the tv set), hit magic focus on there....then hold power button for several seconds long. It should go off and fix your problem.

No but I'm having same problem and the dealer sugested just buying a new dvd player cause cost of repair or replacement is unbelivably high,approx 500 canadian for new dvd sleeve, the guy tells me they don't fix them they just put a whole new dvd player in from hthe manufacturer. Pretty disapointing considering how nice it is to have it built in.

Pop the speaker cover off and then remove the screws holding the two small black covers on either side, then you will see the screws holding the bottom of the screen.
