What does a blinking hard drive light mean?

A blinking hard drive light indicates hard drive activity. It means that the hard drive is performing certain operations. There are many programs running in the background that need to access the hard drive to read and write data. Whenever this happens, the hard drive indicator light blinks.
Although, if it's blinking continuously and causing the system to slow down, it could also indicate that the system is low on resources such as RAM or hard disk space or it is infected with Malware. In that case, you'll need to check your system configuration. You should run a full antivirus/antispyware scan to make sure the system is clean.

Blinking courser when start my pc and continue blinking then esc courser will stop blinking but after some time again blinking courser

Pls check if the Hard drive is detected in BIOS.
If Yes, then run a test on the Hard drive.
If the test fails, the drive has to be replaced.
If the test passes, then load the BIOS defaults and check if the comp boots to windows.
If it still doesnt boot, then you will need to reinstall the OS from the OS disks.

I have a Dell 2400 Desktop that all of a sudden won't access the login screen. It powers on then the hard drive makes noise with the green lights blinking but it then says press F1 to continue but

First thing, check to see if the is a floppy disk in the floppy drive, if so removes this disk. If there was no disk in the floppy drive then it may be a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the data cable on the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard disk controller.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect this hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.

To get the computer operating again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on this hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.

Suddenly, my 500GB Seagate external hard drive couldn't mount on my iMac. It was working fine till yesterday. I connected them to the Mac USD port, and the light in the seagate is blinking... Any

I can only comment generically:

I would try to uninstall the drive on the OS. Then re-start the computer. After the re-start, connect the drive and see if the drive re-installs itself.

If the error persists, then the drive is indicating failure. To absolutely verify if it has failed, take the drive to a store where there are MAC computers and try the drive on one of their computers to see if it works.

A continuous flashing LED on most devices where the LED does not normally continuously flash is an indication of a failure of the device. Some devices will flash an error code when designed to do so, and if possible.

WD Myworldbook white strip flashing

The 'blinking' light simply means the unit needs tending to. Once acknowledged, via config, the flashing light will stop. Sometimes your anti-virus program will block you from getting into config. So you might have to turn your AV off.

Sometimes the blinking starts because the drive is over 95% full and sometimes it means one of the drives inside is failing or has died.

Run the WD Discover Tool, go into to "configure", & acknowledge that over 95% of the drive is used if that's the problem. Once you do that, the blinking light will go away & work like it did prior to the blinking light.. If a drive is failing then you might need to RMA it.

When placed in port, the light flashes several times and goes out

> light flashes several times, and goes out

That is "normal" activity -- the "table-of-contents" is read from the flash-drive (and that I/O activity turns the lamp on) and when there is no I/O activity, the lamp goes off.

If the lamp stays off when you try to access the files/folders, then the flash-drive has "died". Spend $9 to buy a replacement.
Contact SanDisk -- if the warranty still is valid, you can get a replacement, for minimal cost.

Light on front just blinks

this could be for several reasons. Normally a light blinking on a hard drive is to say that the disk is being accessed. but if it happnes for a long period of time, then you might have a issue with the disk itself.

i suggest that you try the device on another PC, a friends or relatives. if you have the same problem , i am afraid that you might have a disk error
