Re:
It sounds like the CCFLs (backlight lamps) in the monitor are failing. You might be able to get them replaced by the manufacturer if it's still within warranty. Otherwise the fix might involve an expensive technician and replacement parts.

Its not auto adjusting because of the flickering. Its flickering because the screen itself is losing voltage so it cant stay on. You can try hooking up the monitor to another computer just to rule out a bad video card but it looks like replacing the LCD is the only solution.
Yes, look for two 1000uf capacitors on the power supply PCB near the output cable to the main PCB. They will have swelling and discolouration. Replace those and should fix your problem.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague http://www.badcaps.net
You still have shorted out components on the circuit board, you will need to download tha service manul here to do an indepth troubleshooting: http://elektrotanya.com/
