Try restoring shortcut keys to their original (default)settings.

Open Winword.

1.On the Tools menu, click Customize.
2.Click Keyboard.
3.In the Save changes in box, click the current document name or template (template: A file or files that contain the structure and tools for shaping such elements as the style and page layout of finished files. For example, Word templates can shape a single document, and FrontPage templates can shape an entire Web site.) that contains the shortcut key (shortcut key: A function key or key combination, such as F5 or CTRL+A, that you use to carry out a menu command. In contrast, an access key is a key combination, such as ALT+F, that moves the focus to a menu, command, or control.) assignments you want to restore.
4.Click Reset All.

Note:- Reset All removes your customized shortcut key assignments and restores the original Microsoft Word shortcut key assignments in the selected template or document.

Hope it will help.

Shortcuts have locked up on my pc

Conflicting Extensions

Add-ons, also called plug-ins or extensions, are mini-applications that attach themselves to independent software and add extra capabilities to the program.

Extensions can change a browser's interface, alter the behavior of existing operations, add new functions or install in-browser support for programs like Shockwave Flash or Adobe Reader.

Because these extensions make changes to the overall operation of a browser, they can also affect the shortcut keys.

Most browsers offer an option to run the application with add-ons disabled; if the shortcut keys work when extensions are turned off, one of the add-ons is at fault.

Key Reassignments

Programs like MapKeyboard, SharpKeys and KeyTweak can reassign the functions of each key on the laptop keyboard.

If the computer is running a non standard keyboard layout, certain keys might not behave or respond normally.

For example, if the "Ctrl" key has been disabled or is set to work like "Shift," shortcut keys won't work as expected because the keyboard is no longer using its default mapping.

If the keyboard layout has been changed in the Dell laptop, the registry will contain a Scancode Map entry in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout or the language bar will show a keyboard language different from the default ("English (United States)," or "EN," for Dell laptops purchased in the U.S.).

Virus Infection

Malicious software can affect the function of peripheral components like the keyboard and mouse.

If the keyboard is exhibiting strange behavior for example, if certain keys do not respond or if keys output unexpected letters a virus is most likely the cause.

Running an anti malware software from within Safe Mode accessed by pressing "F8" on the Dell logo screen should remove any viruses interfering with keyboard response.

Browser Software

Upgrading or downgrading a browser on the PC can affect the Internet shortcut keys associated with that program, especially if the version removes a function that was once associated with a particular keyboard combination.

Alternatively, if you've switched to another browser, you might find that certain shortcuts that worked in the previous browser don't work in the new one.

For example, while "Shift-F10" opens a context menu in Internet Explorer, the same keyboard combination does nothing in Mozilla Firefox.

Hope this helps.

Touch screen is not working, how do i go to menu, shortcut key to menu.

Hello,

There are no shortcut keys to the menu option except you stored them yourself. But since you o not have any shortcut key to the menu, it simply means you just have to fix the phone.

There are two major reasons that could be causing the touch screen not to be responding. The first is if the phone fell and the sensor board got bad, and the best solution is to replace the sensor board. To replace the sensor board is quite sensitive so i will strongly advice you seek advice from a specialist that can assist you with that. But if you intend to fix it DIY way, then you can ask and i will direct you through the steps.

On the other, it might be the screen is weak and needs calibration. To calibrate the screen depends on the type of phone it is. I will advice you go through the user manual for the steps to calibrate the screen of your phone. If you cannot get any response from the screen, i will advice you replace the sensor board. Because calibration requires you to touch the screen and since it is not responding to touch, it will be pointless trying to calibrate.

Thank you for using fixya.

Laptop hp nx6320 keyboard f2 key is only working. f1 and f10 key is not responding so that I can't save memory upgradation option nor open the setup.

Have you tried "Delete" to enter the "Bios Settings"? If not this must be the shortcut for your laptop, since most compaqs' Bios settings are accessed with "del" key. Actually for Hp compaq laptops, F1, F2, F10 and Delete keys are the shortcuts. (varies with series/models).
If this doesn't help, try Fn+F1, Fn+F2, Fn+F10 etc..

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.
